Also the Wii U Virtual console is coming in a short few months. Now you can play all of your previously downloaded games on the Wii U with Wii U features such as controller support. It will cost a $1.00 lisence fee for each game that you previously pruchased or you can just stick to the old Wii Virtual Console.

I didn't have a Cube, so I missed out on Wind Waker, which apparently is a most grievous sin that I have committed. It's good to know I'll be able to come around to it, and in glorious HD nonetheless.

I think you're confusing Wind Waker for a different cel shaded Gamecube game.

Or do you have Wind Waker cause the graphics are realistic and detailed?

I liked Wind Waker, though I stopped playing when all I had left to do was find the bits of the tri-force and the maps to their locations. I kinda wanna see a Zelda game that looks at the far end of that timeline, where they started an industrial society.
Like a steam-punk Zelda game where you have to find bits of ancient Hyrule or something. Science and Ancient Magic, clashing together, sometimes fusing. And maybe some sort of gun instead of a bow, maybe even getting a lightning gun at one point. It would still be balanced so that it would be better to use the mastersword most of the time because its magic, and there will be magical enemy's.

I'm not entirely sure, but Skullgirls could use the recognition boost Evo would bring. Everyone knows about Super Smash Bros. Not to mention Skullgirls was created by and for the FGC.

Definitely hyped about the new Smash game for sure. Also love to hear news about the Zelda game coming too, although, how could Wind Waker be remade at all? The game looks and plays great as it stands.

And uh.. Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei. What? Is that a crossover?

I don't plan on getting a WiiU (the only reason I might would be Arkham City Armored Edition), but I am a little amped for a new Smash Bros game.  I think I liked Melee more than Brawl, but I did like it a lot.

Everything in this report is why I got a Wii U. Mario, Zelda, VC, etc... It jsut happens to be that we've been having a lot of fun with it even without all this new fodder yet.

As far as I know, Wind Waker remake is just MUCH better graphics and Gamepad control.

Not sure what Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei though

The Mario will definitely be fun, I enjoyed the wii version.  I did play through the first zelda on wii and that was fun too.  I'm interested in a Smash brothers, but they need to do a better job with it then the last two.  The wii one was ok at best I suppose and the gamecube one was terrible.  But after all these years when I get three friends together we still break out the N64 and play smash brothers 1, which says a lot since I do own all three of them.  I'm not a fan of how they are handling the virtual store either.  If I'm gonna shell out money for the new system I want all my online store purchases available to me for free.  I mean come on I shelled out five bucks a pop for twenty year old nes games, I shouldn't have to pay anything again.   :cool

Wow. I never heard anyone who says that Brawl was better than Melee,or even say that Smash 64 was the best of the three.

 :D :D

The first one was all about timing, combo's, and teamwork.  The other two felt more like button mashers to me.  They also were quicker and felt so much more random with everything going on, plus the pokeballs/items and the environment hazards to boot.  Then the hyper pokeball in the most recent is so unfair.
I would so buy a Smash 1 remake with more characters in it.

Maybe he's never heard of all the combos people were able to do in that game? from his posts.. IDK, It's like he's never even googled the game once.

Considering I am VERY good at the first game... it was about grabbing and spikes.

Melee was about combos and timing. doing some of the more advanced techniques, like wavedashing and L-canceling, require perfect timeing to pull off.

ALSO: Items? lolwut?

Anyway... why the hell remake Wind Waker? I don't get it.

and a new yoshi game made by the people who made epic yarn? I hope to god it's actually a GAME, unlike epic yarn, which was just terrible.

They kinda admitted that the Wind Waker remake was to tide us over until the new Zelda game was done.

Plus despite what one may think, people actually DO like Wind Waker. Myself being one of them

I liked wind waker myself too, it's what's Skyward Sword SHOULD have been.

My only beef is that this would have been the time to, IDK.... Remake MAJORA'S MASK?

^^(PM)^ I would agree with the button mash thing.  You could be a 40 year old who played for six months and lose to some 5 year old who never played but pushes "A" really fast.

I still stand by my statement that I didn't like the gamecube version.

The one thing I really dislike about Melee is the fact that it feels so unprofessional. Brawl and 64, while less competitive, feel much more like the developers knew exactly what they wanted. Melee feels like a fan game almost. In fact, as much as I love it, the Smash series as a whole has NEVER felt as defined and polished as Nintendo's other top games. There's always something that makes me think "WTF? Nintendo EAD would never put something like this in a game." That said, each one has its strengths and each one has its flaws, and hopefully the Wii U version takes the best from all 3, along with new ideas, and makes the best version yet.

All of the early GameCube titles have a very peculiar feel to them that doesn't quite match up with what Nintendo was doing before or what they are dong now. Melee, Pikmin, Luigi's Mansion, WaveRace: Blue Storm. They've all got a unique "GameCube" feel about them, and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Nintendo didn't quite understand the technology they were working with.

However, all of those games are great and I think it's because of that "GameCube" feel they have. They were special.

I suppose they did feel "unprofessional", but I think that has more to do with the developers having fun with what they were making. I don't get that impression very much anymore. I would kill to get a "GameCube" feel again.

To be fair I'm sure it's fairly realistic. People CAN trip you know.
You arguing realism in a game where a master swordsman, a pink puff ball with an internal black hole, an electrically charged mouse, and a fat midget italian plumber fight it out in multiple locations and shoot each other with plasma guns that do no physical harm.

But realism is constantly used to praise the game.

"Look at the seam on Mario's jeans! It's so realistic!"

I'm sure using it against the game is also fair play.

The closest I ever came to relating RL to a game was a Army Tank simulator, and I said it was probably just as complicated as reality, but not as safe-feeling.

I think they just probably wanted a more competitive game, something that could be compared to traditional fighters. I've been playing competitively for years and I still haven't learned everything there is to know. You have to be so good at prediction, and timing and have to be able to input commands at ridiculous speeds. It shows in that special movie that came with the game. That Peach combo that they show you is just the tip of the iceberg, theres so much more to Melee. =P
