SpRiTe Of ThE wEeK cOnTeSt #37 Voting
« on: February 06, 2010, 05:22:57 AM »
ANOTHER 2 VOTE WEEK, so make sure when you cast your vote you pick 2 choices

OK guys another great week in the sprite contest. Great theme with great entries!!!

Remember the rules & do not dog any of the hard work from anyone! This theme was kind of a matter of opinion. What some people consider a lame syper hero may be someone elses favorite. So let's not see any fighting about if a character is " lame " or not

So without further ado , let's check out everyone's work

Sprite # 1 : US Agent vs Hawkman

Sprite # 2 : Firefly

Sprite # 3 : Befeater

Sprite #4  : Clock King

Sprite # 5 Dogwelder

Sprite # 6 Dazzler

Sprite # 7 Hollow Kon

Let the voting commence . You have until Sunday night to vote. Good Luck to all the contestants.

Wow Batman, Martian Manhunter, Dr Fate, Wonder Woman, Guy Gardner, Captian Marvel, are lame?

They were all part of the JLI

Only if G'nort, Scarlet Skier, Beefeater, the Injustice Leage Booster Gold or Blue Bettle are in the same group.

The Martian Manhunter develops a pathetic Oreo addiction.
I'm not sure if wonder woman was in the JLI (Giffen age)
Batman and Guy Gadner were the only ones that remains cool

Oh, wait, Guy Gadner becomes like Captain Marvel while he was pursuiting a mouse

Only Batman was cool, he he didn't appear a lot.

But i like the JLI!

BWUHAHAHAHA

Dazzler is definently the winner here I think, based on sprite work alone. There have been some cool depictions of Dazzler and I've always prefered her to Jubilee but she still gets my vote. Warner's work I'd be willing to chance a guess... though Kon could also be his work. I didn't vote Kon on the grounds that while he is lame he is not a superhero.

My other one went to the Beefeater. Best small scale sprite in my opinion (they usually get underrated but I actually think their harder than high res sprites). And definently an unquestionably lame hero.

This is very true, Lo-Res sprites are a lot harder than Hi-Res.

Guy Gardner is pretty lame, I always hated the bowl cut GL.

It is harder to show the detail out of lo-res sprites. The befeater sprite does indeed have detail & looks just like him. I'm also drawn towards the clock king one for the smaller sprites. When did he wear that outfit, though?

All I have to say, there are many weeks where the lo-res wins against hi-res. So I just let them both enter

Gotta disagree, Guy is in Tomasi's GL Corps every month, and he's great, one of DC's best sellers.

Well Beefeater was in one issue of Justice league Europe. Gnort was a short comedy faze too. JLI actually as a book lasted about a year and a half. B4 that Justice league Europe featured Hal, Flash. wonderwoman, Metamorpho, Elongated Man most of the series.

I was a big fan, I just hate that everyone makes it seem like it was just about Booster, and Blue Beetle when it wasnt that way. It was about mixing Big names with unknown heroes, and mixing in some Seinfeld esque comedy. Booster and Beetle werent really d-listers untill the series ended, and people who just didnt get it labled them that way.

The Giffen Era is still one of the largest selling points of the Justice League. moreso than these days.

These are some awesome sprite edits!  Too bad I couldn't find the time to join in on this contest or the last one - College is a higher priority than spriting right now.

But I did finish my shredder sprite - which is in my NEW Avatar.

Ok... I love the JLI (Giffen) era. It was funny, different, great. But the heroes act... crazy, weird, wtf...

And Booster and Bettle were pathetic (in the JLI, don't missundertand me) , they have made a Casino on Kooey Kooey Kooey....
But actually Blue Bettle (Ted Kord) is remenbered like a great hero, and Booster saves the world every month on his ongoing series, but nobody knows it.

I think that on the JLI era there were no superheroes at all, only funny imitations of super heroes...
