Well I haven't seen any Marvel cartoons in many years...mostly cause I think western animation is quite crude and embarrassing to watch. I would love to see Marvel license their characters over to some top anime studios to do some more dark/adult type stuff. I got bored of Marvel right after the whole Spidey Clone stuff...at that point I had enough and looked elsewhere for stuff I could get into. I just got tired of Super Heroes and Marvels dumb plots. But in terms of animation, I want to see some anime based on Spidey and X-Men with a more darker feel and more emotion...stuff that could grip you. But that's just me, not that I hate all western animation..it's just that they keep going to the wrong people I think.

I'm not denying the fact that DC is better in animation than Marvel. Batman TAS is my favorite series. Justice League Unlimited is very close behind. But this toon was designed for really young kids, to get them into comics young. So I really don't see a problem with it.

Well western animation may seem crude, but I think anime is way overated. It looks the same after a while, and the plots are strikingly similar, and while at times complex are embarrasingly immature, cheesey and awkward.

Personally I thought Batman Gotham Knight was one of the worst DC films. To me it was like they crapped up Batman, and his villians to make them look like the same old anime stereotypes instead of just making the character look correct. If it hadn't been for Kevin Conroys voice, and the writing I wouldn't have bothered. So no offense but anime has a lot of flaws as well.

Quoted for truth. Anime is by far the most over-rated thing going in cartoons.

In actuality, I find western animation to be a bit more on the distinct side. It used to be anyways. It used to be simpler and cleaner. Lately it seems like a lot of studios are trying to rip off the anime style, however, and it's been slowly bleeding out any originality and distinctiveness in our animation. Truth be told, I'm sick of anime; I used to be of the school that it was superior, but once the luster wears off and you start noticing it's numerous flaws, it starts getting almost unbearable.

Besides, they handed off a couple of their properties for anime films. The trailer for the Wolverine one seriously made me want to vomit all over my laptop. Thank goodness my iron will prevailed; I can't afford a new computer right now, after all.

That's what happens when the Golden Age ends bro. Sad, but true.

I never said anime is the be all, end all of animation so don't misunderstand me. It's just what I would prefer and we all have our own tastes and as such we all have the right to like what we want. I also said I don't hate all western animation, just that I feel they keep going to the wrong studios. It doesn't need to look like anime, but a darker tone would be nice. Anything like Batman TAS would be a welcome change, there is no need to dumb down these Marvel characters. But, since this is suppose to be for the little ones, they need something more on their level, but this is a bit too low. I guess it's fine for your average 3 or 5 year old, but most of us are much older and that is why we look at this and consider it silly. You sort of need to look at it from the perspective of a little child. If I had a kid, I much rather have them watch this than some of the other garbage on TV. Not like watch this or watching it with them is gonna hurt anyone, it's just harmless entertainment for the kiddies.

I don't see the big deal. Marvel made a cartoon for kids to get them hooked on comics early. This can only be good for the industry. Now if the Avengers movie is anything like this, I'll burn down Marvel's corporate office (It's near my job).

 ^^(PM)^

This is something for Acey Jr on Sturday mornings besides Little Einstein so I'm very pleased with it.

Never said you did.

I just have an intense distaste for your common anime these days. Not that the same amount of American born cartoons don't suck lately either. But hey, what the hell, right? As Paul Dini says, animation is a pendulum; you have your upswings and you have your downswings.

I agree, animation in general has it's ups and downs and various flaws and still has a lot of improvements to be made. It's all about how they go about doing things and the time and effort they decide to put into it. I also agree that most anime is generic and all the same, but I was mostly speaking of the truly good stuff that stands out.

I agree that the best in anime is literally the top of the heap (they don't come better than Cowboy Bebop), but I think some people downplay the accomplishments of western animation as well. So I suppose I'm a little jumpy to defend it. I've found that there are easily as many classic American cartoons as there are anime.

True there is great stuff on both sides of the fence, you just gotta look. Cowboy Bebop was more of what I was trying to reference to in terms of quality and style and it's one of my all time favorite shows out of Japan. Now only of we could somehow take the good qualities of both worlds and somehow get it to work right. I just wish western animators would put some more sophistication into their work, just go all out and and give us something we can sink our teeth into. I know they got the talent to do it.

I just hate how american cartoons have the whole plotline play out in a 22 minute time span.

In japanese animations the show is more like a soap opera that makes you tune in week after week to find out what happens next.

Even though the art work isnt as epic as the japanese counterpart, I would enjoy it if not for the whole bad story telling.

Its like they dont even put any effort into it.

Well to be fair, most western cartoon shows keep each episode as a self contained story so people don't have to have seen every episode to watch it. They can just dive in anywhere. It makes even more sense when it's a little kids show like this one so it's easy to follow. But for me as an adult, yeah I prefer anime shows for it's cliff hangers and drama and how it's drawn out longer.

Personally I think anime's ongoing storylines make it a pain to watch. No offense anime fans but I don't care for anime enough I am going to go out and buy a season of it to watch in order. So if I turn it on TV in the middle of something I have no idea whats going on. Don't see that as a pro at all. And since every series does it, it all makes them come off similar.

I'll take the half hour episodes any day. Batman, and Justice League were ongoing series, and plots. They just finish a storyline before going to the next instead of listening to the same wining over, and over. While I like Blood +, and Bleach the same crying over the same plot points week, after week just gets annoying. After a while I just want to say SHUT UP! Someones in trouble, and for the next 50 episodes I gotta listen to some one carry on about it obsessive compulsively every episode. Thats the formula for a hundred differant anime's.

not for nothing, but that's the current "in" anime that (some) people like these days, you need to dive into the good stuff.
I mean, we are comparing this to other shows like Justice League, so why not compare it to something like, iunno (00079)Gundam, it's a shorter anime, easier to follow better then Code Geeese...or however you spell that...
