Your experiences of leaving and returning to MUGEN

Id just like to hear about anyone else's experiences with being away from the MUGEN community for a long time and returning to see whats gone on in the duration.

I was forced away from MUGEN for nearly 2 years due to the US Marines keeping me far far away from anything resembling a stable internet connection. When I left the MvC project here was just getting off the ground. The first Beta version of it had just come out. People were just settling into the new inter-community rules. There was about a third of the emoticons that there are now. All the crazy Lvl 2 characters were coming out after the release of the SF vs MK 3 video.

So much has changed since then. I have a massive amount of catching up to do. I feel a little overwhelmed. I have to start over from scratch. I will probably never amass the 100s of gigabytes of characters, music, stages, misc. items, and full games I had before. I am pleased, however, that everything has grown so much. I will personally always remember the early days fondly, but the new is just as fun.

Welcome back m8.... Hope everything went will in the military... I'm going down that route very soon so I may chat it up with you in PM and ask some questions to put my mind at rest.

But with the mugen community not much has changed the golden rules of the community are still in effect. There are still huge flame wars on occasion. Just mass amounts of good/bad/terrible characters have been released. Oooh and the ol mighty Syn is still churning out stages and stuff that improve after each release.

Plus I doubt you know of him because I think the dude started about 1 year ago but  MOTVN is a kickass stage creator. He churns out about 5 stages every week or so. They are top notch but not as interactive as Syn's but they do have of anime boob factor

My experience?
Well...I've been in the Mugen community since early 2000 (That's pretty long  )
I was a member of old sites like MugenBR, Randomselect, MugenDev, MFG, and Mugennation IIRC.
I've retired from Mugen like 2-3 times, But that was just because school and such, Last time I came back was in july 2007
I had school exams in 2006 and then I thought it was over for me with Mugen, Till 2007 it just randomly came into my mind, So I started to play Mugen again, I had to start from scratch too (And believe me, that sucked)


That's it I guess

Hey welcome back !

I left mugen for 3 hours once . It was the worst 3 hours of my life , so I had to come back 

Everyone calls me DT , I'm one of the newer guys . I've only been in mugen a few years . But I jumped right in & started creating soon after I found out about it . I have not gotten frustrated enough yet to leave ...

I "left" the Mugen community for about a year... and by left I mean I dropped out of all the Mugen sites I went to sans MFG. But this was because my old laptop cord died.
