Hmm.... I guess if you just look at the roster, my Mugen is horribly unbalanced. I've got everything from Magikarp to Omega Tiger Woods in there!

But I've been working on setting the "order" for my roster in arcade mode, and I've gotten it pretty balanced. Unbeatable characters don't show up at all, and the difficulty ramps up pretty nicely.

I really enjoy survival mode, though, and that's where things get weird. Sometimes I might go on a 30 or 40 round rampage, and sometimes I get Zero_Col in round 1....

My Mugen is as balanced as a real game (besides all chars having the same gameplay of course). No half done piece of crap chars. I'd say the only chars that I have (out of 150) that are cheap and unbalanced is...

God Orochi
Original Zero

... and that's not even that bad. Also, I'm not counting Reu's chars because they aren't as cheap/broken as most people put it. Their A.I. is just insane.

Reu's characters are broken. For example, while they are doing a super combo, their super combo meter increases which makes it easier for them to do another super combo immediately. Plus, their dragon punches counter almost every other move.

Umm... no. That's not what broken means. That's just the unbalance-ness of the chars. A broken char is like Omega Tom Hanks. Just because a char has a few flaws that can be fixed easily doesn't make it broken.

My roster only has 56 people right now. For the most part its really balanced. I have it set so that I face 5 order1 people, 1 order2 person (order2 is for bonus rounds), 3 order3 people, 1 order4 person (sub-boss), and 1 order5 person (boss).

Not very, I guess, I got close to 510 chars but their all ranked accordingly. So in arcade mode you fight weakest first and strongest last :-??.

Thanks DG!

I disliked the Evil Ken unbalanced comment....  He is simply put a challenge...Unbalanced hmmmm.....

I like to think of it this way.  Master Gambit.  Wow.  Is he unbalanced?  I don't think so.  Is he a great battle?  Hell yeah.  White Len?  I feel the same.  Master Geese?  I mean it's crazy but he is awesome to fight too.  I like to setup my mugen so that the first 8 rounds or so is chaoti.  You could get anyone.  That way it's luck of the draw.  Sure you could get Master Gambit.  I don't think if you do that's a horrible thing.  Sure it might mean end of your run.  But I think as you frantically try to battle him there is a chance you could best him and move one to what I consider my "fair" order.  Fair meaning the remaining chars that are purposefully assigned are: 1. Fun to fight 2.  Difficult but completely possible to defeat with skill. (good examples in my order are Spec ops Bison and Zero Hotaru....)

Mugen is incredibly hard to balance when compared to previous fighting games.  There are so many chars.  So many creators.  It is possible with some common.cns thought to create a type of system (everyone can parry air jump block etc...)  But after that you will still have to edit power levels within each char to make it balanced (something I and friends painstakingly did cuz it is not simple.  We basically use Evil Ryu as a baseline to base new chars defense/attack ratings on and adjust accordingly)  I just worry that people are writing off chars that for them are too hard as unbalanced instead of raising their level of play (and others who play their mugen) by giving yourself a challenge.  I think this is one of the many areas where mugen excels compared to other games....

There is nothing like that feeling when you beat people like O-Adel or Evil Ken.  Take that you cheap bast....

My mugen is pretty balanced, the only thing I have to worry about is the back to back boss battles with Sachiel, Kuro's Arcueid, evil Dan, and Shin Gouki, and Gill.

I refuse to let E. Ken back into my mugen because I haven't stayed on the floor for more than a third of a second.\-/o

Yeah Evil Ken is tough man.  I took him out of my order but he can still pop up randomly in the first few rounds.  Kudos for mentioning Evil Dan.  That guy is a monster.  He remained in my order....Both are must haves....
