Atlus parent company files for bankruptcy

Atlus’ parent company Index Holdings has declared bankruptcy at Tokyo District Court.

The company, which bought Atlus in 2006, is 24.5 billion yen in debt, which is roughlyt USD $250 million or GBP £160 million.

President Yoshimi Ochiai and Chairman Masami Ochiai intend to resign.

The Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission of Japan have been investigating the company for allegedly improper accounting via fictitious transactions, specifically under the suspicious of exaggerating revenues using round-trip transactions.

Seeing how many game software companies go bankrupt or have mass layoffs, it makes me wonder how anyone survives.

Seeing how many game software companies go bankrupt or have mass layoffs, it makes me wonder how anyone survives.

from what i have always read over some years now when these types of things happen its like 4 choices of things happen:
1. go and works for another development house under another big name company's many developers they may have under they contract.
2 Goes and works in cellphone game development companies ( which usually are far much smaller depending on wether you get with a name brand or sign up with a private developer.)
3. Stars own small branch company and tries to expand by hiring others that been laid off or let go by other companies or ones they were already part of.
4 collect unemployment.
  about any other options other than retire but quite a lot of the people that have been in the field  for some time arent even at the age to retire and do much jumping around from software development house to another and some are young and freshly gotten into the business.  i feel sad for these people when stuff like this happens.
