New 2010 Design

A character based off of myself, I made a "new" sprite from scratch which I plan to make as a W.I.P but only time will tell...

Is the shading on the pants from scratch, because its drastically better than the rest. You gotta work on your anatomy. His arms look like they're made out of laughy taffy :P. His chest is rather boxy, and his abdomen is poorly formed. It looks like you attempted to define abs, but forgot about the muscles around his ribs.

It's a good attempt, but I'd try studying muscle definition. That's where you're hurtin' the most.

agreed, the muscles are hard to do, I am going to start referencing from Fei Long from now on, the pants are from scratch, but referenced from CvS Ryu's
Perhaps I shall make a sprite edit instead, using Fei long's upperbody, Ryu's leg's, and Sakura's shoes

yea, I swore I saw Ryu influence on the pants shading XD. Starting out with editing is definitely a strong choice, you learn a lot of from editing muscles that are already drawn. I know I did.

Here, I played around with your sprite a little. It's definitely not perfect, as I don't really have the time to polish it, but I touched up the chest/ab area. I usually say less is more, but working with 3 colors to define muscles can sometimes be harder. You may want to bump it up to 4. I say 3 because you're using the darkest shade simply for outlining. It can work if you spend some time with it, and the colors you chose are actually really really good, for skin tone. But it may be easier to work with 4. Anyway, I hope this helps you.

- His right forearm is too long and skinny
- If you wanna use the shading I gave you on his chest and abs you need to sync the rest of his upper body with that style
- definitely get rid of the outlining on his pants
- shade the hair a bit
- shade the straps on his pants

Alright, now this is a frankensprite of Ryu, Joe, and Sakura. This is the spritng method I will use for my WIP, I like this sprite  :D

The proportions sync up quite nicely. My main critique would be that the upper body is much more heavily detailed than the lower. Creates a sort of half-realistic half-cartoony thing.
