Mugen video, but no sound

Hello there. I'm seem to be having trouble with Mugen videos. I have recently changed from SnagIt 8 to SnagIt 9, but whenever I capture a Mugen match to record both audio and video, the video's fine but no sound comes out after dubbing with VirtualDub. A while back, SpiderMew or another IMT member suggested that I try the egg carton with headphones with a mic wrapped around, placing the headset in a box then added something on top of that box to block out outside noise. Now, that technique's not working, the sound card's okay and the headset are connected right, what's going on?

I used both Camtasia and SnagIt before without any audio problems. If I remember correctly, there was a step I had to do first before I started recording in order to get audio. I remember watching a vid on Youtube that showed me how to do it... I'll see if I can find it.

You know what.. you can actually go to the techsmith.com (Snagit company's website).. click on support, then support center.. and click on contact support.. let them know what's wrong.. what kind of recording device you have.. and they should be able to help you out. They ALWAYS help me out with my Snagit troubles (which only occur rarely..).

I'm curious as to what they'll say.. if you actually need a friggen mic or a certain kind of sound card or something like everyone's telling me on this other forum i'm at... cause that's ridiculous...

I know, but without a mic, unless you've got speakers, you need to record some sound at least. I'm going to try Hypercam.

Yeah.. I don't understand why we got all this great technology nowadays.. and like.. the freakin pc itself can't record sound? it's weird...

you know, i'm having the same problem right now with SnagIt as well. It's strange because i never had the problem before. So i'm gonna try out the advice given out in this topic

Well, after further experimenting with dragonesku's idea, I think I needed to select What U Hear in the Recording section of the Volume control. Let's hope it works. Well ATICE, without a sound card and a mic, you wouldn't be able to hear anything. Anyway, I had to change sound cards for that very reason because I thought it would be worn out.

Well, it didn't work . I could kindly use more help about this problem, maybe merge the recording problem posts into one.
