Where are my 4GB or ram???

Hello all,

So i get rid of vista for mugen reasosns and install XP 64bit edition, but now XP only shows that i have 2.87GB of ram. Bios says 4GB. Has anyone here encountered similar problems and found a fix? Or any advice? Please help me i'm deperate and have used google but found no answers...

PC Specs:
Core2Duo 2.2
Nvidia Gforce 8600GT
2x2GB ddr2 ram
SG 750GB HD

remove the ram sticks carefully and then try using one ram stick at a time.
check to see what xp reports each time.

Both of them report 2.00GB of ram... i then placed both and 2.87GB came out again... how frustrating!  :-??

XP only recognizes up to 3GB RAM which is why you don't see 4 GB when you check.

XP only recognizes up to 3GB RAM which is why you don't see 4 GB when you check.
32 bit only recognizes 3GB
64 bit recognizes up to 120+GB (in theory)... i googled it sir.

Check the amount of video memory taken up in your bios.

Check the amount of video memory taken up in your bios.
On board video is disabeled in the bios. I have a video card installed.

What exactly was wrong with your mugen that made you downgrade?

Do you have a intergrated video card? That may be your problem as a intergrated video cards in new PC's these days reserves a GB or more RAM.

Like I said two posts back, I'm not using integrated video, I have a Nvidia Gforce 8600GT card... anyway i installed Vista again  ~X( and now i can see 4GB of ram... again.

Odd, try a fresh copy of mugen without any characters except kfm in it. I recently had to upgrade to Vista, I thought the worst to come, however Mugen runs normally and without problems.

I'm a little bit of a tech guy but I'm learning this year. Anyways try a new mugen and see if it still crashes. If it does try running mugen with Windows XP compatibility enabled.
