I am trying to get the versus project's dashing system as close to tekken as possible. Although the system is pretty solid at the moment I feel it lacks that 1 tekken aspect for wave dashing characters. I was wondering how I could incorporate the dash forward function to be executed after tapping forward quickly whilst having the actual walk forward function left as hold_fwd. How do I do this without the dash function interfering with the attack codes. Giving control during the dash seems to make the dash end abruptly and gives a really rigid stiff feeling.

So those are my 2 main issues at present any help would be greatly appreciated

You mean, you want to be able to attack out of dash and have the characters slide a bit or something?

assertspecial, flag = nowalk for the dash states, that leaves walk out of it completely

In the character states, use a physics of S and don't assign the velset parameter at all, that way the stand friction constant will cause the player to slow down rather than simply stopping from velset.

Other than that, i'm not 100% sure i get what you want to do as it sounds like a lot of default "that's how mugen works" code that has got lost in customisation.

Sorry maybe I wasn't too clear with my wording. You were correct about the first part attacking out of a dash without using ctrlset. I have a number of ideas in regard to how this would work but that would involve adding a stateno=100 to all of the attack functions in the cmd.

Let me paraphrase my initial problem for you. I would like the dashing feature, originally "FF" by default. To be initiated by quickly tapping forward and releasing forward and at the same time still have the walk forward command as hold forward. The problem is as soon as I push forward to enter into a walking state the player will go into the "fwd" dash before entering his walking state. So essentially his dash is bypassing the default walk function everytime I go to walk. I need to make the system recognise the difference between tap and release forward to hold forward.

edit: The dash also bypasses some moves that use fwd also.

Ah, that makes more sense.

You will need to bracket the command off. Essentially command != "holdfwd" and another command that says you've hit and released the key.

F, ~F
for example, although you may need to do some extra stuff to make it function.
