Is it possible to downgrade a 1.0 Character back to Old WinMugen?

Lately, on the ScruffyDragon.com "Scruffyversary 2011",
twinimage released an update to his Nightcrawler  
and an all new Proffesor X  
but they only work on Mugen 1.0.
What has to be changed for it to work on the old WinMugen?  
Because they look like such amazing characters, it would be sad to miss on them.
(add SeanAtlty's Squall from FF8 to that need a downgrade list.)

Why would you want to do that?

Switching to 1.0 is easy, I only have 1 character that didn't make it over.

What has to be changed for it to work on the old WinMugen?  

Here we go:

Step 1) Go to Elecbyte.com and select M.U.G.E.N at the top of the screen
Step 2) Under downloads select M.U.G.E.N 1.0
Step 3) Extract the zip file
Step 4) Add characters to the char folder
Step 5) Add character names to data/mugen1/select.def

One thing Elecbyte should have never changed was the .sff format, it drastically changed everything and made it a major inconvenience for compatibility with fighter factory classic users and MCM users alike.

I suppose it's too late to go back now and I am in no position to demand anything from elecbyte after they did so much work all ready.


It just seems like the backwards compatibility was ignored when elecbyte made that decision...

If u change the AI then  the char will be available for winmugen too!!

I have the patch of Nightcrawler and ProX and it works fine in winmugen too!!

Actually the new SFF is the best thing that ever happened to mugen. A prime example is in this video:



Rogue's skin color change is only possible thanks to the new SFFv2. A new version of Fighter Factory is being developed that can use SFFv2 then you'll rejoice at how awesome the new SFFv2 is too.

I was hesitant as well for awhile, but when I had no other choice and made the move (because winmugen had sound issues on my new computer) I felt sad I didn't make the move before. 1.0 is very backwards compatible. Those few chars that aren't just need a tweak. The sound is much better and the possibility of ai at different levels is awesome. My 2 cents.
