this is some bullsh*t man. who the f*ck watches that show?? i didnt even know there was a show like that. And further more this damn game came out waaaaay before that show that TOTALLY has nothing to do with fighting monsters and warriors in a fatal tournament....shouldnt that trademark crap on the ordeal should have worked the OTHER WAY around? KI came out in what?...1995??

MS could be able to buy the rights from Fox, I think. I really don't think someone will confuse a claymation monster with a fat guy in a trench coat.

Ight so a friend of mine whos in law school (well finished actually) told me what the deal was. Basically Rare didnt handle their business in time renewing the trademark name so Microsoft got the bad end of the stick with that legal situation vs Fox when they decided to do their thing with the game. B*tch @ss fox took advantage of it pretty much . So it may take some money they will have to pay in order to really get that new Killer instinct rolling. I mean it would be worth it and they will make the money back because SO MANY fans want that game to return. I dont know how this will pan out in the end though. Unless they change the name to "The Killer Instinct" or "Killer Tournament"...thats just my optional guess

so eh i kinda had a hunch it was a "First dibbs" on the trademark since somethin happened with Rare (which was the late trademark name renewal), But i just thought Rare AT LEAST had a better power behind the issue since they had the name first with their product....  i was of course, wrong

Damn that's messed up. Well maybe MS can use the initials K.I. or something in front of Killer Instinct to avoid legal issues with Fox.

Fox's trademark should expire shortly. If they don't do anything with the trademark in a seven year period, the trademark reverts into bidding status.

However, now that Microsoft has brought Fox's attention to an interest in the trademark, I'm sure they'll put out a DVD release just to extend their license and charge Microsoft an outrageous sum for use of the title.

Also: Fox didn't have to do anything to block Microsoft here. This was entirely handled by the patent office.
