First Custom Character - Stryker (Mortal Kombat)

So, while making my MUGEN game "Mortal Kombat X Capcom", I kind of thought the MK Characters could be either how they were in the first 3 Mortal Kombat Games OR make them into the style of Street Fighter and Marvel Vs Capcom.  Instead of deciding right away, I wanted to make a MvC Style Mortal Kombat Character, so I thought I should do it using Stryker. (With his Mortal Kombat 9 appearance)

This is him so far.


If you can't tell, I didn't want to start entirely from scratch, so I took the sprites of Guile in Marvel VS Capcom 2 and edited the first pose sprite, just to present this image above.
Yes, there are a few details I still need to add, such as his weapons on his back and on his belt.  Not sure if I can do much for the belt since his arms are in the way, but I'll see what I can do.

I will keep updating this thread as progress is made.

I would say to work on him a lot more. It's too simple, and you need to add details, and make sure the hat/cap actually fits on his head. It looks like he just put it on the top of his very lightly.

No disrespect, but there is a lot wrong.

The legs are very long, and far too thin, not to mention all just one color, all the way down to the boots.
The body is good in terms of shape and outline, but it needs shading, as again it is only one tone right now.
The hat, like the legs, is just one shade of solid black, and should be redrawn so it actually looks right on his head.

I will say Guile is definitely the right base, however, and you don't even need to change the face.

Hey guys.
I know it's been a long while, but I have been focusing on other things that kept me away from working on Stryker.

However, I finally have time to start working on the guy.

More updates are coming soon! :D

Here are a few plans I have for the guy right now:

- The hat will have some work done.  I may post different variants of the hat, and if anyone has their own idea on how the hat should look, feel free to post it.

- The sprites of Guile will be "taller" in order to continue turning him into Stryker.  I thought the legs looked a bit too thin and short to be Stryker's legs.

- Guile's arms looked a bit too big, so I'm finding a way to make them thinner.

- The shapes of the shoes looked fine to me, so I'll just have to re-color them.

- Something I MIGHT do is add sprites from Stryker's MK3 appearance, or at least keep his attack sprites as a reference.

Any additional suggestions?  Feel free to comment.  Pictures will be posted soon.  I want to get the sprites of his pose before I start on his moves.

I would certainly suggest making his stance different than Guile's. Maybe use another section of Guiles sprites to make another stance for him?

I would definitely use all the MK3 references you can in making this. Maybe take inspiration from his recent MK9 appearance, too.
