a little help with hiding characters in Caruscation sp

i was just wondering if anybody could help me out with a little problem i have. I never had any set backs in hiding characters with other screen packs. I'm trying to put some hidden characters in the Caruscation SP, but they aren't selectable. Not even from the random select. I set the hidden characters off screen in the select.def, but i can't seem to access them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks in advance!
