I know balls nothing about spriting, but I figured a simple recolor job would be an easy way to start messing around. Of course, the first thing I thought to do was a black suit spiderman. I know, how original, right? anyways, I went through some of spidey's sprites, and found this one that I thought would make an interesting standing pose. I figure I can have his body move up and down like he's breathing or something. Of course I got about this far before realizing that I had no idea where to start or what to do to get this project bumping. Any ideas/advice/feedback for someone who's never done this before?

Well, I bet no spriter would say this, but I'd say just start by starting to edit the sprite. If you screw up, that's okay, as long as you still have the original.
It's all about practice. Everytime you screw up, you gain knowledge.

haha yeah start by actually spriting and messing around with it

You should read some of the topics in the Tuturials section, it might help a lot!

Thanks. I definitely have been doing a bit of research. right now I'm concentrating more on the spriting side of things. I figure I could always find a willing coder once I have a decent sprite sheet assembled, if I decide to actually make this character.
You guys think the pose looks good for this type of character though?
