Title: MvC2 River stage
Post by: Error Macro on August 15, 2007, 10:44:08 PM
I decided to try my hand at making a mvc2 stage

NOTE: IT WILL NOT BE 3-D

With that said, here what managed to rip so far. I also know there are a few blue stray pixels on the barrels

Barrel 1

Barrel 2

I never liked these funky 3-D to 2-D stages, but still, good luck on this!

You're doing very well with ripping the barrels and such.
Nice job!

Just about every stage in MvC2 is 3D, so all the things ripped will be different than the average stage. I don't see how hard it is to make MvC2 stages, just time consuming. If I could I would make all of them. Since they are 3D, all you do is take a pic of your computer screen of the stage you want into peices and put them together (but then again the draw distance may mess things up). The Carnival stage may be harder to do something like that.

Nevertheless,, good look on this stage Ermac!

This stage is the 2nd version of another stage. The original one was on an ice berg. Most of the stages had a 2nd version.

(but then again the draw distance may mess things up).

Agreed.  Also, more often than not, the individual layers of three dimensional stages are comprised of numerous colors.  In order to maintain the full quality of the background (as seen in that screen capture), Ermac will likely need to give each element it's own palette.  Case in point, "Dissolution Soil" required the use of six palettes, just to sustain it's original appearance.

Good luck on the stage Ermac.:)

I really don't remember seeing that stage in MvC2. Is that stage on the Dreamcast version? cause I don't recall seeing it in the PS2 version. Or I just haven't brought the stage yet.

I might dumb asking this...but what do you mean? :-[

Do you mean giving each sprite its own palette?

The stage has to be unlocked.

Bingo! ;)

EDIT: Although, in this particular context, sprite & element are one in the same, I apologize for my choice of terminology.
Title: Re: MvC2 River stage
Post by: Error Macro on August 16, 2007, 02:43:02 PM
Ok!

Glad thats what you meant, because as of now ( on my computer :P ) everything I ripped so far has its own palette!

Although I may release 2 different versions of the stage, one with the mvc2 sprites, and one with edited sprites (to look more like the first mvc so the sprites fit in mugen better)

I still need to get the anchor, more mountains ,and the raft. After I manage to get all these I'll start to code the stage. :)

I have all the parts for them, but like I said, they are 3D so the parts don't look like your average 2D sprites.

i took a shot at marvel vs capcom 2 stages but failed
i found my sprites at mugen china and their 2d but some are missing but good luck with this one and you got my support if anything
the river stage was the first stage i was gonna make since it was just the bridge and the barrels but then when i looked at the sprites from mugen china i got really confused at all the sprites they gave you
how were u exactly able to rip the sprites out though because i couldnt figure out how to disable the layers

It's the alternate version of the icebergstage. You have to buy that stage to fight on it on the console versions of mvc2. Funny how it doesn't come up in the arccade version, but every other alternate stage does.....

the author that made the stages that are animated from cvs2 is JAM. He's on the site mugencharablogshinobi. sorry I didn't give a link, but the link may reside in the database. Maybe you guys making those stages could try to get in touch with the guy or guys involved to get some info on their techniques. Just a suggestion fellas cuz his stages looked pretty good...

Do you have to like.... pixelate it to make it 2D? I didn't know the mvc2 stages were 3D. I never really got to play mvc2 much cause I never had it for PS2. Maybe I'll go play it tomorrow at the candy store near where I live.

maybe this could be both high res and normal res at the same time it was used for normal resolution chars but imo high res characters would fit better :-??

Mine always crashes after I press start and the announcer says Capcom!

Also, please do not spam this thread with awws, and complaints, I'll still try, especially after seeing Span's stages.
