Title: Human/Cyborg Smoke Idea Help
Post by: A! on April 17, 2015, 04:07:12 PM
Hi, it's been a while.

I recently had an idea on how to have a two different character modes. I have a way of doing it but i'm just wondering if this is 'best' or 'right' way of doing it.

I'll be using Rugal as an example. I will have one Rugal mode and one God Rugal mode.

Sprites/Palettes:

So first, I was going to add Rugal sprites and use RemapPal for his alternate God Rugal Mode. Then while on God Rugal mode, for extra effects I was going to add sprites of just God Rugal's hair to the SFF.

Coding

To code this I was thinking of coding it similar to how other coders have coded Hayato's sword.

I wrote this in a rush so it might confuse a lot of people and I might of missed much out. If anything you don't understand, please reply. I'll answer any confusion.

Would also like to add, the character will be able to change to God Rugal while in game via a command before round starts(this is how you become human smoke in UMK3.

It's entirely possible, but as per normal with anything like this it will break in custom states. You won't know what frame/sprite is displayed and will not know where to place the hair.

The remappal bit will work perfectly. The hair positioning... fails in custom states, just like full animation changes always have.
