Title: Sprite editing
Post by: Atiles on May 06, 2013, 12:56:23 AM
I can't download Gimp any more because I had it on my PC before and even though all the files are gone I can't download it again. So does any one know of another good free sprite editing software I could use to make sprites?

Some really great spriters just use MS Paint. Best example, Sei/Intermission (Jason Todd's spriter). That girl's got major skills and doesn't even need a fancy program.

Really? /:O I had no idea, I like your sprite edits to Batzarro because I am a fan of comics, most of my sprites I wanna work on are Comic Book Characters, like Prometheus form D.C. Comics and Human Torch and Toro from Marvel Comics AND The Savage Dragon from Image Comics.

Thanks. I personally use Photoshop (CS2..I think) which is wayyy overkill for spriting but it's what I had available and what I'm use to now. If you can get use to MS Paint then you probably won't wanna look for any other program. Don't really know which other programs people use for spriting besides Paint, GIMP, and Photoshop, though.

If you ever need help in finding bases, feel free and shoot me a PM. One thing I've gotten pretty decent at is finding a good mix for characters.

;) I ever use firstly MSpaint, for easy edits and photoshop ( I don't remember now which type ) for layer issues when I have to do frankenspriting work, merging different sprites in one or colour changes,... I also use GIMP, but not very often ( I've discovered it recently and still don't know how this works )  :|

But yes, MSPaint is a very used tool even being considered simply. Simplicity most times is better  ;)
