Title: A version of SF3's Necro that doesn't suck?
Post by: god_king on September 30, 2007, 07:56:25 AM

This isn't exactly a request (which is why I haven't put it in the request board), so much as a gripe.

I've seen three versions of Street Fighter 3's Necro out there.

One of them, by "Saito aka ikuzeexodia", is basically a well-designed character (though with a couple of little bugs and a forward-walking animation which is a little "off"), but horribly, terribly over-powered. His super-meter jumps up to full basically immediately at the beginning of the round and stays there, allowing him to use hyper moves constantly. Literally constantly. I can't find it hosted anywhere, so I've put a zip of it on my own server for the purposes of discussion.

The one by Fido (http://www.mugenchina.org/phpwind/read.php?tid=11253) has no win poses, looks like he's about a foot and a half shorter than he should be, and is missing his medium punch and kick (though to his credit, there's some really nice new visual effects)

The one by Cloudius (http://randomselect.i-xcell.com/) seems to be down right now, but if I recall correctly, was little more than a very-incomplete WIP which was released for some reason as a finished character.

So what's the deal? Why can't anyone produce a decent, true-to-arcade, non-overpowered version of SF3's coolest character that actually works?

Moreover, is anyone willing to maybe edit the first Necro so that he's not an unbeatable killing machine? I would do so myself, if I had the skills, but I remain a n00b in the realm of Mugen, and I just don't seem to have the head for the programming side of things.

Like a wise guy already posted around here:

as a good creator would say :"read the docs".
Making chars is almost something about trial and error

actually, that's real easy to do. Just go play with his CNS.

Everything seems easy but I get stuck when a tutorial doesn't mention the most important piece of information. Which always seems to be so called understood. I wish I could help you but the only thing I can say is read a lot of tutorials. There are some out there which tell you how to adjust the damage levels but that's not going to fix the super meter problem 8=|. I remember dumping my original MVC morrigan and then someone gave me a fixed version which soooo helped. The one on the site didn't work right. Sorry that's all I can help you with...and no I don't have Necro. I didn't like most of the SF3 cast :(.
