They're not shutting down the schools. I wish they did. For now they are only shutting down the Secretary of State and liquor sales in Michigan among other things. They were gonna close the casinos but they decided to keep them open.

Quote
Gov. Jennifer Granholm said Friday afternoon that a government shutdown would mean most government operations would cease, including food safety and gas pump inspections, liquor deliveries, lottery ticket sales, the issuance of driver's licenses and construction on state roads.

The three Detroit casinos would remain open, however. A Wayne County judge on Friday gave the trio permission to stay open even if the state is unable to oversee them during a shutdown.

You would have to go to a different STATE to take it. Which defeats the purpose. Why have an Ohio driver's license when you live in Michigan.

It was said on the radio that they expect at least 18 districts were expected to close. Plus my teachers seemed really depressed about it today, and they're all health nuts so I doubt that they're depressed about liquor being gone. Aside from that, at the beginning of the term, my government teacher gave a lecture of how his parents pretty much pay the state taxes for our school to be runned so.  ??? We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
If school closes, I don't know. I guess I'll get a job.  :-??

I haven't heard anything on the news about school closing, and my teachers expect us to show up all next week I'm sure. Maybe that's just the Detroit Public Schools district.
What city do you live in?

No.  :D I don't go too many places outside of Detroit. Just to Troy, Dearborn, and Southfield for shopping.

Meh. I prefer the lakeside area for shopping, there's like a gamestop on almost every corner, so on release dates, it's not as hard to find stuff (except for when systems are released).

I figured it wouldn't last long. The state was shut down for a few hours and they found a new deal in the middle of the night. It's all the same except now they're taxing services like haircuts, manicures, massages, etc. Doesn't really effect me since I don't do that stuff anyways. :-??
