Title: Explod/Helper Question
Post by: A! on September 19, 2011, 06:55:37 PM
Why do other creators use helpers instead of explods when adding slash FX.

Its hard for me to explain, but if your going to add red clsn to the slash anim instead of the actual slash why not use an explod?

If someone could explain this to me that would be great.

If use dont understand what im talking about...just say  :P

Explods are easier and safer, helpers have more options but require more maintenance. An author may even get in the habit of using helpers because of the options available should they need them.

Helper's are more versatile because you can use the entire slew of sctrl to manage the properties of the helper. It requires more maintenance because you need to account for the life of the helper more than just a set time counter in a variety of situations.

Thanks for the reply.

So explod is the easy option hmm.  I also noticed other creators are using BindToRoot/Parent which only works for helpers.  ~X(

Ok thanks for explainning it.  I think i'll use helpers instead, guess im gonna have to create a seperate state for helpers  :D

This explains why using an explod didnt work well in some animations
