Title: Namco Vs. Capcom Not One, But Two Games?
Post by: Saber Alter on July 20, 2010, 03:44:37 AM
http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/07/19/rumor-namco-vs-capcom-not-one-but-two-games.aspx (http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/07/19/rumor-namco-vs-capcom-not-one-but-two-games.aspx)

Quote
Ever since two prominent Namco and Capcom producers appeared at Evo 2010 in Las Vegas just over a week ago, rumors have run wild about a Namco vs. Capcom game. Game Informer has done some digging and found intel that will please Street Fighter and Tekken fans alike.

To catch people up, Namco Bandai's Katsuhiro Harada and Capcom's Yoshinori Ono playfully teased the crowd at the Evo fighting game tournament with some onstage banter (see video below). The most important information concerned a fighting game debut trailer set to go live on Saturday, July 24th during Comic-Con.

According to our sources, Capcom will make a Capcom vs. Namco game using the Street Fighter IV engine and Namco Bandai will create Namco vs. Capcom with the Tekken 6 engine. This means that each game will play and look like whichever company is creating it. Think hadoukens, Ultra Combos, and 2.5D presentation on the Capcom side and three dimensional movement, in-depth move lists, and most likely, a playable panda on the Namco side. Ono is rumored to produce the Capcom game, and we're guessing that Harada will handle the Namco end of things.

Capcom's done its fair share of fighting game crossovers before with companies like Marvel and SNK, but this could be the first time that two totally separate games are produced simultaneously. Be sure to come on back this Saturday to see if our information rings true.

Holy sh*t great post!  ^^(PM)^

i knew this would happen. i mean i got the rpg import just cuz years ago but i knew this would happen eventually in some form.
although its fighting games it still leaves a possible release for DS or psp US release version of the RPG original.

but indeed im more interested in the fighting games lol

Well, I have to say this is CERTAINLY an unorthodox approach to doing a crossover project, between two companies. :o I already knew that Capcom actually still takes chances, but this takes it to a whole new level!

Also, seeing an actual Namco/Capcom crossover game come over here...That has been one of my greatest desires, ever since I had known of Namco X Capcom's existence.  8) As it's two different fighting games, they have a better chance of getting imported, no matter WHAT obscure characters are involved. :w00t:

I pray for their success. ^:)^

Two versions of essentially the same game by the two companies would be a disaster.  :(|)

I predict the Capcom version would sell more because lolTekkenJuggling.

Its called speculation people The article pretty much states within itself that its speculation. Also this is NOT the first time a cross over got you two games CvS - SvC anyone.

 >:-(-| Dis a dam good year for fighting games aint it brothers? Back on topic wat do u mean it would be a disaster dont u know dis is one of da best ideas to ever come out of a crossover? Think of it dis way a lot of tekken fans think dat tekken is better then street fighter and a lot of street fighter fans think that SF is better then tekken obviously. But for those who want the game but are tekken fans will get da tekken version as to where da sf fans get the capcom version but since im a fan of both i'll prob get both especially if namco and capcom pic there own rosters...

The Tales RPG series better get some rep or I might have to rage D<

Also: Pac-Man is a Namco character, as is Klonoa ;)

I wonder how they'll handle Weapon Based fighters in the Tekken engine? Soul Calibur reps are a given if this actually happens, so I can't help but wonder how they'll work. And which Yoshimitus they'll use?

What?  That would be like if there were a Nintendo vs. Capcom and Mario got a cameo, but not as a full-fledged fighter.  Pacman's one of the most iconic video game characters out there  :-??

Plus the Pac-Man World games showed us he can do more than eat, so yeah.

You're probably right. I was thinking that because pac-man wasn't playable in namco x capcom. They just made a museum based as him.

It was weird that Pac-Man had no real part of NxC, that was unexpected. Especially since they included Taizo Hori.

I really don't see this working...at all. These two companies have games with completely different gameplay for starters. How would any of the Tekken characters even respond to Character like, Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, let alone any Darkstalkers characters?

Really, u guys? Pac-Man....in a fighting game? Thats just LOL. I like Pac-Man, but I cant imagine him rolling around an arena trying to eat dots so Ken can turn blue, and then bite him.

I would like to see Darkstalkers & Soul Caliber characters in these games. These games will need more than just Sf & tekken. It would be great if namco's version was SF vs Tekken & Capcom's was Soul caliber vs Darkstalkers

If the Tekken characters can handle Devil Jin, Azazel, Ogre and boxing kangaroos, I think they can deal with a little Hadouken.

Is the one being shown the Capcom or Namco one.? From the looks of it, seems Capcom but I'm so hoping Tekken type gameplay in there (in ISM style if needed). That would be so f*cking amazing and I'd really love SF for once. Can't even imagine what kinda stuff they'd give the SF gang.

I'd much rather have this over some full on company vs company crossover btw. Unless it was in sprite form, then that'd be a whole 'nother story just for Mugen's sake. =P

Off Topic: For the people that dont like fighitng games, they better hop on the bandwagon. 2011 is gonna be  the year for fighting games and corssovers, then I hear talks about they doin a Halo and Metroid prime corssover...man. Its time to get with it or get lost, fighting games taking over next year.

I have faith that will happen with a Dante and Bayonetta cross over. After i played that game twice ending it i already said to my self...watch dante and this broad meet up ^-^...Hell Dante already popped up in a past 3D Persona RPG. so why not :-???

As for the fighting games. The better ideas and chances the game companies take, the cooler Fighting games will be. For those downing fighting games just stop it. In the 90s thats all there really was rockin heavy and we all damn there play em all. FPS are great. but too much of anything after a while takes a chill pill for a bit. It was bound to happen again with fighting games showing up. Capcom n Namco just made it worse now with the Crossover No one thought would ever really happen. SF was 2D while Tekken was 3D. so you never know whats gonna happen next now^^. Guilty gear Vs Blaze Blue? Tekken Vs DOA? Capcom Vs AKSYS? MK Vs Killer Instinct? who knows?...But its gonna be a wild ride in 2011 and on..

And it should be Devil Kazuya against Evil Ryu, that makes more sense. After all, Kazuya and Ryu came first.

I can't wait to see Dragon vs Law.

ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!!  I knew this was bound to happen but i was leaning more on ttekken vs virtua fighter side, since they both 3d or dead or alive vs one of those 2. oh yes i is time for fighting games to make their comeback and take the center stage once more. i read an article long long ago in a gamepro book that fighting games were always the main set to show off what a console can really do in terms of playability. no console can survive without a good fighting game lineup in its arsenal. i mean look at what we got right now, we got street fighter 4, super street fighter 4 , naruto shippuden ultimate ninja storm 2 here and coming. then next year is full on fighting game heaven with MVC3 and now the tekken vs street fighter and reverse street fighter vs tekken. who knows whats next! I have been a fighing game fan since karate champ and the original street fighter. and this is a dream come true..almost. i say almost cause i want a few of my good animes to be made ino fighting games too like Needless and a bigger better version for consoles now Soul Eater. or better yet they just make a game with alot of the anime charaters from various shows like needless, soul eater, ikkitousen and such.  that would be the bomb for sure.

Now i am glad that this is happening and it will be interesting to see these 2 seperate games show which fighter got the stuff, but its more focused i think on how the player can handle the others cast in their respective game type.  i wouldnt want a company crossover either.. thas overkill.  fighter vs fighter. just how it should be. FIGHTING GAMES FTW!!!! :w00t:

^^I'm pretty sure they are going to release this here. But most likely will have to wait the two years for the game, at least according to rumours. The Namco version being hinted as to be 3 years away.

dont worry it will definitely come here. the issue with that TvsC game was the US rights of some of those Chars like Karas n crew from tatsunoko. it was somethin like that. The whole Street fighter X Tekken thing was a sure instant US hit. Thats why they showed it at comicon. im sure Japan gets first dibbs as usual though 8=|

and as for Darkstalkers. Thats still happening. This game SF vs Namco was the game im sure Capcom reps kept sayin was a surprise thats gonna blow fans away. The darkstalkers game was already being talked up n confirmed by the lead SSF4 developer. It will use that same SF4 engine. anyway the worst that can happen is ghim pulling back but i dont think thats the case.

damn so with all these wishes for us fans coming true i wonder whats gonna happen next?
A new Strider game was being talked up since the SF4 announcement...
and maybe the old Capcom community fans may get blown away by an very old wish since MVC2...
well what long lasting anime series Bandai & Namco has now by license?...

lol DBZ...Capcom develops a MVC style one with Namcos help...who knows :-??

They never said no jin. It was in one of the interviews post reveal. Ono stated they want to use classic tekken characters however thats a little fuzzy because for some classic includes T3 but for others T2 is the threshold for that. Either way if we get classic jin (before he became a generic emo sasuke ripoff) Im cool. But if they draw him with that dumb butt T6 robotic emo expression im gonna be inclined to hadouken that crap right off his face. Jin isn't so big no more i mean who actually likes him?  They've made him so generic ppl say they like him but no one says hes their favorite character and  NO ONe mains him.

Jin was cool in T5.

What does this mean for my dear Ling Xiaoyu? D:

And I guess it also means I won't be seeing Alisa ;-; That's disappointing ;-;

Think they'll include Kuma and Roger? Or maybe even revive Alex? I'd like to see some of the more "wtf" Tekken characters get an opportunity in SF style.

Lol how could u dare compare jin to sasuke? I don use jin dat much anymore but as a character hes da s**T hes becoming like kazuya started out as da hero but it slowly turning evil. I mean what da hell does jin have 2 be smiling about his mom was killed by ogre, His dad and grandfather are tryin 2 kill him and hes possessed by da same devil dat possessed his father. Sasuke is a wanna be ninja when the whole idioligy of ninjitsu was 2 never be seen every one knows wat da hell he looks like...
