Alright, until recently, I just thought my laptop was just unable to record sound normally (as in using stuff like Camstudio or SnagIt while being unable to record sound. However, I can record sound using Snes9x and VBA's AVI recorder).
I know the method of actually recording audio, but it doesn't work for me. And, from what I've seen recently, some people have other programs or something when they set the speakers to record. I use SigmaTel Audio. I saw another a while ago, but forgot what it was. I don't exactly know what to search for (I doubt "Mixer Device" would help), so, to those other recorders, what "Mixer Device" do you have?
-
I use a cracked version of magic music factory. If you want a copy let me know I should still have the zip around here somewhere...
-
I don't know. I meant that when you set your speaker's to record, you'll see a "Mixer Device" option. I'd like something to replace SigmaTel Audio, as I can't record sound otherwise aside from 2 emulator's AVI recorders.
-
well i have sigmatel as well
fraps works but dont install an evaluation version get a registered version straight from a torrent or something and install that
if it works tell me
-
No, this isn't about screen recording software. This is about Mixer Devices. As of now, I can't record sound using any screen capturing program anyways, so Fraps won't be any better.
-
Did u try updating ur sound card? That might enable ur computer to record through the speakers.
-
I use Audacity [http://audacity.sourceforge.net/] it records any sound on your PC...
-
Alright, look. What do you have in the area that's circled?
Also, Audacity doesn't work.

The white underline is just shameless advertisement.

I would normally say upgrade your sound card but you said you have a laptop.. but there has to be a way, what's the exact build of your soundcard (like model #) i may be able to find an updated driver (which seems to be your only hope of recording short of using a PC or buying a new laptop)

Does this help?

ok... what kind of laptop do you have? and can you give me some info on your motherboard? (like is it Intel/AMD, and the model of that. I ask that because when I went to their site, I got this:
SigmaTel does not support end-user products, please contact the manufacturer of your device for customer support, software or driver downloads.
that leads me to believe you'd have to look for an updated driver from the maker of the motherboard since it's onboard
-
I got Realtek AC97 Audio. I had to update it to get sound recording from the speakers.

that helps a little, but after search the intel site I didn't see anything relating to your problem... what brand is your laptop? Maybe they would have updated drivers?
-
wait: try this http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/109437
the version is 5.10.4946.0 so it should work with your setup

Oddly enough, I got this new a year ago. Maybe it's older than I thought...
Also, the download doesn't work. I can't open it because, apparently, it's "damaged". And I've tried downloading it multiple times.

scroll down a little and on the left side there are 2 alternative links... I'm downloading it now, if if won't work for you I'll send a link
