Title: Applying a patch to a character

When looking at some posts, i found that certain characters have patches for them to make them better. Could someone please tell me how i would go about doing this? I don't want to do anything to my characters files before i know what im doing, you know?  :-??

....just put the files's patch in the same folder of the character concerned.
 
the files of the patch must to substitute the original files of the char.
