Title: Whos buying Dantes Inferno?
Post by: ADSplay101 on November 03, 2009, 05:28:43 AM
"My apologies in advance if I am breaking any rules"
To understand where they are coming from with this game, the game is based off of a book called the Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy is a book that popularized the 9 circles of Hell and the 7 Deadly Sins. The videos below describe each lvl of the game and the history of the book in the videos. BE WARNED: This game is not for kids nor the feint of heart.
Note: I only posted the Dairies they had made thus far when they make the other ones i will post them here asap.
This is one HELL of a game, cuz it takes place in HELL itself. All I wanna know is who is buying cuz I know I am.

I mean it doesnt look bad at all. In all honesty the only reason I can see someone not buying it is because they are too squeamish.

I have been keeping tabs on this game since it was announced (gametrailers rule!) I'm def gonna get this game.

Lust is gonna be an awesome level/circle. The amount of detail the dev's have shown re-creating the 9 circles of hell is amazing. So many sick and twisted things in this game. I think it may get an AO rating.

I think it looks pretty awesome.
I've been reading the book and only got into the 7th circle so far. It's AWESOME.  :O*D

PS...this game isnt accurate to the book, which brings me to the point where i ask, why name it dantes inferno....

Its a video game, Its supposed to be interesting enough for people to play. In the book Dante was a wimpy, so they had to make a character that could stand up against all these elements to get the woman that he loved back from the pits of hell itself. If you watched the Developer Dairies then you wouldn't be asking a question like this.

I plan on getting it once I get a PS3.  I also read the book (which was a great read), and I want to compare how much similar and different both of them are.

LONG LIVE THE INFERNO! (lol)

Dude that was uncalled for and really childish. Just because most of us here play video games does not mean we cannot read. When I was in 6th grade I had a college grade reading level. So I think I am more then qualified to read a book. I read so much every day it would probably make your head spin.

PS: If you actually watched the developer diaries, they already said they have taken liberties because if they made a direct port from the book it would not make a good video game. Most of the time books alone cannot make a AAA or AA game title. So they spruce it up and add there own imagination into the material.

ok i understand that every action game is gonna be called a gow clone but after playing the demo i can tell you that this is a complete and total utter god o war clone the pacing the camera angles the move set  even some of the sound effects and sountrack sound the same the only hook is that it takes place in hell and a good portion of both gow games do too. all in all im not saying its bad im just saying that if you own a ps2 or 3 dont waste your money because youve played this game before it was just about greek mythology not christian mythology

I'm usually not a fan of too many American games, but I have to say that from what I played, this game is sweet.  I like the Akumajo Dracula feel to it with some God of War and Devil May Cry elements to it.  I did read (was force to) Divine Comedy which I found boring, but this game changed my prospective of the story.  I will be import this game. :w00t:

I played the demo and to be frank I didn't like it. It felt like it was missing something and appeared a tad bland which is odd considering the topic.
I also feel that it has changed way to much from the source material. And how on Earth can you kill death? I never understood that. Yet if death is gone why do people still die?

I'll take the stylish Bayonetta over this game any day of the week

I have to admit that initially I was somewhat excited that a GOW dupe would be visiting the likes of the 360 (my only console, since I haven't yet had the chance to purchase the real GOW at least thanks to PS exclusivity)- however upon playing the demo I found the overly gratuitous nudity mildy vulgar and pointless. Let me be clear; nudity in the confines of certain films and games that are able to utilize it as an actual medium for emotion can sometimes be brilliant- but the immediate lack of censorship concerning the very nude Beatrixe was just uncalled for. I felt it destroyed what could have possibly been a very evoking and tender moment in our understanding of Dante and his retribution.
I certainly will not be purchasing DI, and it still disappoints me a little :(
