Thanx to Acey this character will exist . About a month ago I PM'd Acey here & asked if I could use Green Goblin's sprites & such to make a Hobgoblin . Acey granted permission & support . So once I got the go ahead from Acey , I busted some tail over the past month to get him done . The first release is scheduled for Halloween it seems to fit the character . He will be a beta & play very much like Acey's Green Goblin . The next release awhile after will have all new hyper , specials & supers .
Thank you once again Acey for your permission to do this project . Without you this character wouldn't have even been possible ! I hope you will not be dissappointed in the finished product .
I also Thank Alexziq , he had alot to do with what will be the finished product ! I hit a wall & my sprites were all screwed up when they ran in Mugen & he helped me through it . He is a Mugen Mechanic ! lol

Hey that looks really good, glad you went with the Demon Goblin looking version of ol Hobby.
What sort of things were you thinking about including in your second relese?
Yeah , I liked the Demon/Savior goblin the best . He was totally Demonic , but he thought he was "the savior" . Some of the stuff may be in this first release , it depends on how much free time I have . In the comics at times he would make his bat glider turn into a flaming demon . That is definately going to be one of his attacks . I was going to something with the "batarangs" that he throws . Something with the trye Demo Goblin , the yellow & blue one . Either he will turn into him or just have him as a helper . I want to throw in something special only when he fights spiderman , I'll reveal that later . I'm open to any suggestions , any thing you seen him do in the comic or a move or hyper that you think will be sweet. Let me know . It may make it's way into the character .

I asked people about too much black when I was making him , & never really got a straight answer . I'm an artist so I made the character like I draw , it's like I was inking the character ...lol Once I seen him on the screen I kind of thought the same thing , I was going to redo the black with like a dark burnt orange . Once again depends on how much free time I have , Maybe it will be done for the first release . If not definately for the second .

yeah just give it an dark burnt orange like you said that way it would blend better.

No i dont unforutnatly... I was reading up on him though wikipedia, tryed a google image seach just now and couldnt come up with pics eather....
As for your recent pics, i like the (Face not revealed .....) one as it gives him a more sinister look

Thanx Alex , I think the hardest sprite to make was that one , it's so freakin small ! I'm glad it turned out the way it did . Hey , that Black Canary on your sig looks sweet ! Who's making her ? I've just have to have her .... :D

Well you make sure that the colors used for the yellow face are only used in all the face sprites, then when you go to make a second pal in whatever you use, you set all those face only colors to black.
This way you could also hide hidden symbols or designs in characters by having the colors sligly differnt for some spots, but not to the point were its noticable untill you alter the pal. Atleast from what i figure..

There will be a palette for demogoblin included with my Hobgoblin . He will also have either a helper with Demogoblin or a Hyper where he turns into Demogoblin & does some nasty stuff !

Anyways, I made a small sprite-demo to show what I meant (Hope you don't mind)

Certain shots you will see the face & others you won't . On that side shot I like the face better exsposed . I have spent alot of time this weekend redoing sprites because I thought some of them looked bad . I my cable modem was down , so I didn't waste time browsing the internet . So I did get alot done . I also took time to totally revamp the Poison Ivy I started awhile back . She now will look more like the Jim Lee Ivy from hush . I'll reveal her in some time once I get her to look exactly how I want .

They put all new lines outside my house so I shouldn't experience any more problems ! I have redone all the Hobgoblin sprites , so they look different once again . Can't reveal anything , until Alexziq gets rid of my background problems . As I posted I put Poison Ivy on the shelf awhile back , but I did alot to her this weekend to more or less compliment your Harley in the Jim Lee Hush style ! Keep up all your good work on Harley !!!

All in all, what's been shown thus far looks spectacular. On a side note though, I think Hobgoblin and Demogoblin are seperate characters. I'm not up to date on my Spider-Man mythos (I'm more of a Batman buff), but I seem to recall Demogoblin being completely seperate. In fact, I recall him distinctly from that big Spidey book crossover back in the nineties, Maximum Carnage.

I doubt anything would be caused. After all, there are doubles of the same character in different styles all over. Besides, the Gotham Knights project is cancelled, so why anyone would be bothered to begin with is beyond me.

Let's go over one thing at a time . I don't think badly of them at all . As a matter a fact , I asked someone over there to use something in a Hobgoblin intro & he , I quote "gave me his blessing" . Now I don't know if I am going to do that or not , I may have changed my mind on that intro anyway . To the next individual . I am actually cool with that certain batman creator . But he did give someone else some problems for making batman characters . We'll see what happens . Like Batzarro said , we will make what we want for the better of the community .
Hobgoblin & Demogoblin are 2 seperate characters . Hobgoblin was turning evil & split into the Demogoblin . My Hobgoblin is based more on when he was starting to turn evil , but he thought he was a "savior" . He took the mask off & he was a Goblin underneath . He is based on Spiderman #6 & #7 & I think it was Ghost rider #11 & #12 . He had the shredded cape & evil look . I guess he just reminds people of Demogoblin so they are comparing him . I still think the hyper would be cool where he turns into Demogoblin . I thank you for the compliments & also thank you for pointing out Demo was in Maximum Carnage storyline . I've been trying to figure out some issues he was in to get some reference shots .
On a really positive note , that Azreal is already out !

It was in this state that the Hobgoblin joined the temporarily reassembled Sinister Six. However, the two identities of Macendale and the demon fought fiercely over control of the body. Shortly thereafter, the demonic presence physically separated itself from Macendale and continued its purge of the city, calling itself the Demogoblin. The Demogoblin also wanted to destroy Macendale, and Spider-Man found himself in the middle of the two clashing Goblins. In a final battle in a cathedral, the Demogoblin was destroyed when it moved to protect a child, which it deemed an innocent, and was crushed by a falling pillar.

This is where I think Marvel started to go down the toilet writing wise. The Hobgoblin story was an awesome mindblowing adventure in those days and filled my elemetery school days with joy. When they blew it by making Leeds Hobgoblin, and then had Jack-o Lantern take over was a let down.
It was like taking the hottest chick in the bar home, only to be too drunk to get it up. A HUGE disappointment to us all. The Wolverine vs Spiderman 1 shot that tied to it was the one enduring part of the reveal, because it was the 1st time something like that happened in Marvel. Making Macendale Demogoblin was pretty cheesey too I thought at the time, but he's okay in retrospect. Im glad DK's Hobby doesnt have the goofy red circle for the Rose that Jacko Hobby used to wear.

Kingsly was always suppossed to be Hobby, but Marvel didnt go back and fix it till 15 years later. You probably werent around when it happened so it may all seem to make sense in retrospect, However it was a big bummer at the time, and why would Kingley just disappear, and allow Jacko to take over. Marvel intented for Leeds to be Hobby, even though the writer intended it to be Kingsly. They just switched writers, and it screwed the mystery up.

Example, orginaly Mr. Sinister was orginaly intended to be a boy who was stuck at 8 years old except when he was using his powers, and Mr. Sinister was what an 8yearold would see as the perfect boogyman, or bad guy.
And that he was with Cyclops at the orphanage.
Then the writer changed and it was ritten off as a disguize Sinister took to get genitic samples of scott after Sinister had worked with his father long before, and that Sinister was from the victorian ages and made imortal by Apocalypse

Again its not an Infinity vs them thing, its more personal than that with a couple people in my team, and 1, or 2 of those individuals. Unfortunatly there are still some issues, but I'll leave it at that.

As for the Hobgoblin , I was devastated when they made Jack O lantern become Hobby . In my opinion Green Goblin & Hobgoblin were sweet ! Jack O Lantern was a lower tier character , then he puts on the Hobgoblin suit & he was still a lower tier character with a great persons that wasn't really his . Fictional character or not , I took that seriously . I stopped reading Marvel back then , also . Between all the Goblins , Symbiotes , Dopplegangers , & different Spiderman's , I was disgusted . You will probably never see me create any of those other symbiotes , Venom (at first ) & Carnage were great . Until Venom was the most popular character they had & they threw him in every book including Darkhawk just to try to boost sales on that garbage . The rest of those symbiotes just sucked in my opinion . Didn't they end up bringing back Norman Osbourne as the Green Goblin then ? He was dead since 1976 or 1979 , they should have left it that way . On the plus side when GG came back the cover did have a fancy Holographic , prismatic cover . Like that was something new . I agree that whole 90's era was definately the decline of Marvel .
I went with the Hobgoblin I liked . I mean I really liked the original . But for a mugen character he has to be more exaggerated ! BTW No way in hell was I going to put that "rose" circle on him . I have had a few complaints already that I should have made DemoGoblin instead . I couldn't even remember what the hell that character looked like until I found some shots on the net last night . I just remebered he had that stupid " Erik Larsen " tongue . Now that I look at him he's not that bad . But I stand by my choice in Hobby the way he is . I already revamped all the sprites , I could've easily turned him into Demogoblin or another version . I like what I am doing . Hopefully when he is complete you all wil too !
I am going to post something new in the works & go back to bed . I'm sick as a dog !

I like the transition phase hobby. Its the only time jacko hobby looked cool to me. Classic Hobby is great but he's just an orange Green Goblin with a hood, and a big buckle superhero belt on. Tattered hobby was the right way to go.

I never came out & said "Hey dude I'm on this team !" But I post enough about the team & I know he has his spies ! I'm not really that worried about it anyway . I never really said I wanted to make him my best friend . :D If he has a problem with the whole thing of other people making Batman characters , so be it ! It isn't going to make me stop . More than half of the characters I want to make revolve around Batman & Justice League . So tough titty said the kitty !

Like I stated on the other forum being part of this has given me the drive to actually finish some projects . Before I just had all kinds of WIP's floating around & never really had the desire to finish anything or even post them anywhere . I can't tell you how many time I have seen a char and said,"I'll just download him and see if there any good." Then I end up slapping myself saying,"I can't believe this char is so cool." My version is when he started to become truly evil but he thought he was a "savior" . Like in Spiderman #6 & #7 . There will be a Demogoblin palette for now . Demogoblin will probably be a created later down the road !

That Batman is based on the Artwork from Frank Millers the Dark Knight returns. Batman was drawn Bulky and brutal. Its a must for any Bat fan

@ Akeme It's kind of easy for WIP's to get lost in the shuffle around here . So many people doing stuff on this site & all . In my opinion the avatar sucks . That was my first design of him & since then I redid all those earlier sprites . I think he looks much better now . Thanx for the compliments ! It seems there is alot of negativity in the mugen community , so it's great to hear good things for a change . I really didn't think my spriting was that good , but after hearing from all you guys I'm beginning to have some confidence in it . Which is good for you also , because that means more projects will come from me in the future . So if you like Hobgoblin look forward to future releases . As for working on him , he'll be done today . 2 more sprites & it's a wrap ! I'm sticking to the Halloween release date , though . It just seems that's when he should be released .

They won't show up for me at all ? Even the headshot portrait I made for the character select screen won't show up ? How did you convert those files to get them to show up in Mugen , Scar ?

convert them to pcx before adding them in..
I saved them in photoshop as pcx & they won't show up when the character runs . Is there another program to use to convert them . I've used photoshop for everything else , but all my portraits seem to have a problem . I can get my character select & hyper portrait to show up when I drag them into another pcx file , but they are the wrong color .

So just open a new character in fighter factory and edit that palette then apply it to it again, then hopefuly it will work for your character.

JASONTODD is fixing Shazam & Resurrection Superman . He is also working on a few new things , I'll let him tell you about that .
Batzarro has his hands full with Harley Quinn . He's real new to the whole creation process & Harley's his first . He has other things he wants to start but Harley is his main priority .
Me , DARKTALBAIN , Is redoing Doomsday & Azrael's sprites . Then I have other characters up my sleeve too !
Jay_High joined us & now has the desire to do his Riddler .
Alexziq is the mechanic of the team , He has to work on everything we screw up & can't get to run right . So He basically works on all characters . He has the most important job on the team , but unfortunately get's the least recognition .
ProblemChild is a behind the scenes guy ! He's kind of busy with school right now .
Without these guys & help from this forum , I would've given up on Hobgoblin & character creation in general . I hit so many walls I just didn't know how to fix , that I wouldn't have continued wasting my time with any of it . For the longest time I had 10 sprites I did for this character , & 5 sprites for this character ect . Never had the desire to finish anything . Getting involved with all of the guys mentioned above gave me a desire to actually finish something ! There will be more to come ! If you like my work , you all should be happy that I am with them . Because without them none of it will exist . Personally I think Hobgoblin is pretty good . I am still in shock when I look at him , that I actually sprited THAT character . I hope you all enjoy him as much as I enjoyed making him . Through all the problems I hit , it was still a pretty fun thing to do .
Thanx , again Acey I am totally grateful to you for granting me permission to use Green Goblin . I can't even express in words what that means to me . Scar , Thanx for everything . I'm not going to forget you , the administrator of this forum taking time to help me with my problems . that means something ! I thank everyone here for the support through the process of creating this character . Even the negative comments posted , it only made me redo him & make him better than he was at first .

Right on , we really can't rely on Jason's affiliate for coding . Especially because he hasn't answered any of his emails . Sometimes he does that , though . I waited weeks to hear from him at times . He did just get married , I think back in August . So maybe the new wife isn't that hip to him spending time on Mugen .

Thanx for the shouts again, and recognition isnt what I look for anyway. No site lists me as a creator, and thats fine, I prefer to be a helper, because people help me when I need it. Had it not been for the team Joker would be a slightly better Oswald, thanx to Problem Child, and Egoless I have a very unique character, even though they stay in the background.
I just run the middle, get permissions, handle the legalities for Jason now, so theres no issues with permissions, fix problems, and have fun sampling all the sounds. Its a cool hobby

Anyway in the midst of the Dark Ages Spawn WIP I figure I can find some time to upgrade Hobs here . Thanx to my new found friend Susandirs , Hobby is going to go through some radical changes . I always say every man needs a good woman to tell him what to do . :DxDie I was so caught up with Spawn , but she is definatety pushing me to do some stuff with Hobby . So here is the first of the changes

The machine gun move will be gone & he will fire missles . Most likely it's going to be 2 & I will sprite a different launch for them . They will also be pumpkin missles & we are going to try to make them heat seeking .
His Pumpkin Barrage Hyper is changed up a little already . Now the last Pumkin stuns the opponent & you can fly in & do a mad combo . This was all Susan's idea & it's great .
I've learned alot since making him back in October . So I should be able to redo some animations & add some that I wasn't happy with , but didn't know how to fix at the time .
More to come , but now is the time to hear your input . Taking ideas for moves now .

My version of Hobgoblin didn't have the " purse " He was almost demonic from the Mcfarlane issues . So to answer your question , no I am not going to give him the purse . Thanx for the vids & for your interest in Hobgoblin .

The mistles should probably come out, from under the feet area of the wings, one on each side. I think thats how he had it ballenced..

@ Mew Yeah they are going to fire out from under the wings of the glider . It's kind of hard to explain , the wings will have an opening & the launchers will come out & fire the missles . It's just the missiles are so big , I'm having trouble designing it . I use smaller missles , they look too small on screen . I'll figure it out , though .
Throwing toasters for Havok ? Hell , the toaster fatalities are already coded just for when he fights Havok :DxDie
