Title: The "I hate fillers" discussion
Post by: AceWonder20 on May 07, 2009, 03:28:55 PM
Like the topic says, say why u hate or like fillers.  I hate them cause they're just useless and usually boring.  I understand why they are needed sometimes, but when there is such a large gap between the manga and anime, why have them in?

Discuss!  please...

fillers are epidodes that have little to no importance to the main story of the series and are usually made to make the series longer.

Dragonball is a perfect example of a series filled with fillers

in all anime, most of the times we will have to watch fillers...and the worst example of this is Pokemon, where 80% of the episodes ARE fillers! The ones that are not fillers are:
*Introduction of a new recurring character
*New pokemon caught/evolved/released
*Gym battles
*Encounters with current rival if available/those can be fillers as well sometimes
*Pokemon League

Repeat cycle with every new region the main characters goes

I'm kind of neutral about fillers:if they are entertaining enough,go ahead and put them(example, the second bleach filler season, after Ichigo fought Grimmjow),if not i hate them(first filler arc, bount=FAIL)

What annoyes me most is when the filler is an annoying clip show. Just like the main character re-accounting the events of the first half of the season or so in the form of a journal or something.
I dont mind other kinds of filler usualy as long as its entertaning, but just clip shows annoy me.

Oh man those are the worst.

(first filler arc,bount=FAIL)

Bleach hit rock bottom with those eps.  It wouldnt be so bad if the arc was like 7 eps instead of like 50+.  Like the gap of fillers between Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden  @^@ .

The pokemon show all in itself is a filler. It started back in the 90's and it still hasn't ended. Meanwhile Dragonball has ended, and Naruto is a teenager.

My problem with filler though is that sometimes it kills things. I mean look at Inuyasha for example. It went on it's deathbed because the company refused to do any more filler.

I don't mind fillers at all as long as it's entertaining.

Hokuto no Ken has it's fair share of filler and it's all entertaining

<.< except flash-back/re-cap episodes
as has aready been mentioned

also to widen the explination more

Filler could take the form of extension
for Example
when Vegetto fought Buuhan (Super Buu with Gohan absorbed)
in the Manga he went straight to SSJ
while in the Anime he fought for awhile in Base form
also in Manga a single fight could very well be done in as little as 4 panals
however in anime the fight could very well be 5-10 mins
it all depends.
