Hi guys, this is my first WIP, that at the beginning yet, but expect criticism and suggestions, grateful to all and sorry for my English. :w00t:

That's very true...the first sprite I ever did was Dr Strange and trust me it looked NOTHING like the WIP I have now LOL...keep making everything better and good luck :)

Good job on the stance animation, but it lacks a little quality (to be honest). Talk to one of the spriter regulars here, I'm sure they'll be glad to help you out with this. This looks really interesting, and I'm looking forward to progress updates.

I have 12 different version of Hobgoblin sprites . I can release variants .
Medieval Spawn has been changed at least 5 times .

Since you used Wonder Woman you better find another base . You can't use other people's characters as bases without their permission . That's the rules of the mugen community .

Loganir hasn't show his face in a loooooooog time buddy...maybe you could try another base (or bases) there are a lot of girls...morrigan, psylock, rogue, chun-li.... just to name someones...
about your sprite...she looks good...just need some final touches on the hair and the gloves (there is still visible the division of the bracelets of WW)...im general is a good first work :D

Yeah bro , Loganir kind of retired from mugen . Even when he was around , it was very hard to contact him . His scruffy box was always full , so you couldn't even send a message . The email at his site , he never answered . I ended up catching him at the DC Universe site , I think . But that site doesn't exist anymore .
I would suggest finding another base , so you don't waste time working on sprites you may never be able to use .

I have some trouble with hands and hair, I find it very difficult, but I am doing some tests here and even creating sprinter own, thanks to all and remember:

You've allready been advised a few times in the last few posts but I'll repeat it to make it very clear. It's not cool to use someone elses custom sprites without permission first. It can cause a very big fuss. It's up to you to decided what to do now. To show some amount of respect for Loganir, I would suggest discontinue using his work without permission and perhaps use Rogue or Psylocke to base your character on. those would each be great bases.
Making Mugen characters is alot of work, I think we can save you alot of trouble right now with this information so you can continue the art without problems.

Nice start but everybody's right about the base. Loganir isn't gonna answer to your e-mail. Like they said, use psylocke or rogue; or better yet, how about characters from other games that don't deal with marvel.

I say use Chun-Li SF3 for the legs like Logan did, but for the top use Elena. Just my thoughts.

Well, I really understand, really my biggest enemy is just a little experience, I am doing other sprints on other chars but also some originals, put the new in little time, thanks for the help and criticism and praise. Sorry for my english. :)

In my opinion you can use Loganir sprite cause he is not active anymore. if him come back to the mugen scene, then you can leave credit to him... the old sprite of WonderWoman are opensource by the moment he decided to leave the mugen

It doesn't quite work that way . He hasn't been gone 2 years for one thing & there are exceptions to every rule about the whole leaving mugen . I don't think Loganir's work will ever be open source . Look at what the guy did when he was in mugen . Do you really feel his works should just be open source ? A lot of people including myself , would have to disagree with you on this , if you think so .

Yeah I have to agree with everyone just cause the guy hasn't been in mugen for a while doesn't mean his stuff should necessarily become open source cause somethings are better off not being open source cause then a bunch of people could take it and make stupid think with it and claim it as there own. Also I think it is better for those who are starting to make a character mugen to get experience by spriting things for themselves and if they have trouble with that and are better with coding they should find a spriter to help them.

just to be clear...loganir..doesn't quit mugen...he is having some personal issues so maybe whe he is ready he would come to mugen..so thats why his sprites aren't considered open source

Glad you picked differant bases for Power Girl. MUGEN is extremely hypocrital, and petty when it comes to the material used. Had you continued with Loganirs base you would have been called thief, leach, and a lot of other words from people that use copyrighted material at their own whim, expecting other people not to do the same with their work because they think of these companies as "big" corporations when in reality most of the artists out there that work for Marvel, and DC/Warner can barely afford Healthcare. Thats why I'm an advocate for Hero Initiative charity helps the industries artists. Just wait some day some will get hit with a cease and desist then maybe the community will get a taste of how it feels to be called thief by its true definition.

You can't do that , bro . The way the rules of the mugen community go is you can only use things from Capcom , SNK , or other sprites of major companies . You can't take peices / parts from any mugen creators character without their permission .
Believe me I am not trying to give you a hard time . I am just trying to save you some grief in the long run

I say that the left hand is provisional, but I'm sure that this left hand is free of another char that when I do not remember, and I have several parts loose here, respect the work of other designers, the problem was cut parts and mix - them, I'm working on hipers at the moment, but I will soon post another base without sprints protected, thanks for everything and see you soon.

Very nice. The only thing I see wrong with the sprites is the detail in the hair.. but you can adjust that later... doesn't have to be now... lol...
Looking very good, but I don't understand something else... like.. why is the first sprite in that new animation having her arms up like that... looks kinda weird... if there is ever a block to crouch animation made.. that would go good for that... that's what it looks like she's doing..

I dont think the sprites are to par that he'd be all that keen about it. Prehaps down the road as things progress, and improve.

The upper body movement is better, but I'd have to see it again when some alterations to the lower body are made to really comment.
I say this because something just looks wrong in the hips still. Maybe turn her hips a little more towards the direction she is walking and give a more traditional walk? I'm not sure, people with more experience in Mugen could probably answer all that better than me.
As for who she is, she is Supergirl, but a little older from an alternative universe who got transported to the main DC universe.

I don't want offend you, but the sprites need much shading... and now them are a bit ugly in comparison with other Power Girl Sprites :P

Some feedback :
- Same color for the skin and costume outline should be avoided. Just use a darker color of what you outline.
- the shading is kind of flat, try to add more colors of the same shade (especially on the skin).
- breast is a lil squared in my opinion
- different haircut depending of the sprites
- belt position tends to be jumby, i suggest just making it run on the hips.
I made a quick sprite again to follow my thoughts, again not meant for any kind of direspect or anything, just to show you :

Yup, that's quite a positive attitude. Sprite work always get better with the will to learn and training.
One other thig i wanted to add, you should avoid spriting the effect directly over the char, it will look way better if you add these separatly trust me.

Hum no, only used andersontavars power girl stance that was posted at the end of page 2 for reference and redraw starting from here (since the goal was showing ways to improve his edits, not to change them).

I agree completely. Everyone should try to a sprite edit or two, before they up and WIP something and ultimately get nowhere fast. Learning to edit is a lot of fun. Glad we're on the same page.

Z's edit is a great deal closer; study that, make a few single frame edits in a more appropriate style, and try a nice smooth animation for something simple like a jab - then you can start claiming she's a WIP. Hopefully, you'll learn to walk before you try to run.

Well I'm back as my beloved Power Girl. I am reviewing some sprints, This is the new base. Thanks for recent posts, were that they encouraged me to resume this work. this new base was based on the post of our friend Z999, he posted an edit that I liked very much. Soon the new friends.

The new design is a big step in the right direction. You might want to reference some comics for her hair, boots, and face, but overall, pretty sharp.

As far as designs go, we tear each other down alot at the unlimited to reach a better design. Often, you're not gonna hit a perfect design on the first try. What really helps is merging - taking a few versions and reaching something that's both more wip-able and accurate.
Here's an example with my old take on Karen against a concurrent one with elements worked in from Taskmaster0 and AngelEcks:

The second version corrected the shading a bit, fixed the piping on her costume, and gave her a more realistic bottom base for potential WIPing. We improved from there, although Peej is always one that we never got going full-steam on. Note that Capcom shading is top-lit, with great contrast between the lightest and darkest shades, but gradual contrast in the middles.
As far as animations go, three frames in which you've cut and pasted body parts shifting don't animate well. Try to either meet or exceed the number of frames Capcom uses. Here's Flash's jab. It's an easy example, modeled over cyclops. The torso and legs were redrawn over the originals, but the basic movement is borrowed.

A more elaborate example is this crouching MP for Aaron Stack. He's a bit of a secret side project of mine, but since you asked so politely to see examples of my work, let's take a look:

This one was more along the lines of Acey's excellent scratched animations tutorial. I borrowed a non-animated chainsaw from eco-warriors, and modified Nero Chao's crouching parry frame into a full animation. Nero isn't perfectly capcom shaded himself, so I tweaked the contrast in the colors on his jacket, and drew in a custom torso more fitting to Capcom style. Top lighting is key - even for scratch stuff, you can use a popular base like Cyke or Cable to see what the shading should look like.
