Title: Batman by the Infinity Mugen Team Forum
Post by: Acey on November 02, 2008, 04:07:35 AM
You asked for it, you participated; now you get it! Batman is here for your Mugen game engine. In addition to the multiple intros, attacks and special attacks, Batman also comes equipped with four seperate hypers!

Thanks goes out to everyone who helped make this possible and waited patiently as the coding progressed to give us all this complete character. And to all the spriters out there who don't see their work in this release of Batman, don't worry, all those little extras, as well as any necessary graphical fixes will be in future releases. Now let's download this character and beat up on some villains.*

*Infinity Mugen Team does not endorse and acutally beating up on villians, only the electronic recreation of such

Alright, well I tested it out. So this is a beta.
I've ran into quite a few bugs.

1. When the batarang hits a projectile, the batarang turns into a clone of Batman
2. Nearly any move can get stuck into an infinite.
3. Sometimes the batarang flies backwards.

That's all I have so far.

OKAY: here is the result of the first test:
Intros, coding and moves are really great. :w00t: Good job ::salute:: Congrats everyone, we can be proud :P

Now the bad things:
after a big attack a batman stance appears from nowhere?
(http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/9658/mugen1hi0.png)
some size problems are still there: ~:>
(http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/1620/mugen28kg8.png)
two moves are the same, i hate this :'(
(http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/4217/mugen19lo6.png)
he needs more shading on the body on this one:

I've been waiting on this for quit some time! Lucky me I swung through and saw this release. He's AWESOME!! :w00t: Although he is a nice looking Batman, he has his share of issues. His swinging kick caused me to float right out of the screen! Obviously, he's a beta, but still the best looking Batman out there period. He could use better sound, but I know that's coming up in future updates. Seems like he could be shaded a little more as well. There's quite a bit of things to be worked on here, but hey, I'm glad he's finally here! Thanks to all that had anything to do with creating this guy. He's looks to be the best Batman ever in MUGEN pretty soon... :w00t:

omg finally!!! lol :P this is a great batman! :thumbsup:
it looks good and has awesome attacks ( i love the 'i am batman' it makes me lol ;*)))
the only things are the could use more shading and (more importantly) he get his attacks get glitched all the time! like it will randomly stop letting him move then when u use a attack he just keeps doing it but i doesnt hit then hes glitched for the rest of the round. im guessing this only happened to me though since no one else said anything,any idea why? i thought that maybe the file was messed up on one of the links (sendspace) but i cant test that theory cause the mediafire on is down soooooooooo.... :(

feedback Laxxe23 style
in the cmd
Code: [Select]
[State snapback]
type = varset
trigger1 = command = "236Z"
var(50) = 4440
ignorehitpause = 1

[State snapback]
type = ChangeState
value = var(50)
triggerall = var(50) = 4440
triggerall = power >= 1000
triggerall = statetype != A
trigger1 = ctrl
trigger2 = (stateno = [200,460]) && (stateno%10 = 0)
trigger3 = (stateno = [200,451]) && (stateno%10 = 1)
its an invalid state

the smokebomb super should hit once, freeze the enemy and gradually deplete their health instead of doing all those hits(too many hits on the counter looks ugly)
try adding hitcount=0 or something to it
more feedback soon

ai problem
there is no stat 1902
Code: [Select]
[State -1]
type = ChangeState
triggerall = (roundstate = 2) && (var(59) != 0)
triggerall = (Ctrl) && (Statetype = S) && (random = [0,500])
trigger1 = (p2bodydist x <= 70) && (prevstateno != 5120) && (p2movetype != H) && (statetype != A)
value = 1902

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~other lines of code ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[State -1]
type = ChangeState
triggerall = (roundstate = 2) && (var(59) != 0)
triggerall = (Ctrl) && (Statetype = S) && (random = [0,500])
trigger1 = (p2bodydist x <= 70) && (prevstateno != 5120) && (p2movetype != H) && (numproj = 0) && (statetype != A)
value = 1902
the ai gets stuck in the smokebomb super
you could shave 5-10 MB off the file size by using the fighter factory crop sprites function.
this was a surprise, I was definitely expecting something else.
i loled at the "I'm Batman" SGS. The comic book intro is also very slick. that would be cool to see in other characters.
he could benefit from more complex commands. you know, besides the old QCF/QCB stuff. but that's just my opinion.
Very cool release, he just needs a few touch ups that have already been mentioned.  :thumbsup:
Well, I cleaned out the snap back code, fixed the infinite light punch combo, fixed the batarang turning into a bat clone, I'll give him a custom AI and I'm working on douplicating any other errors listed. As for the batarang coming backwards... it is a boomerang so it goes both directions. Thanks for all the feedback so far.
+new look of batman
+hypers & intros
-on his ai, it's easily beaten, it mainly does the smoke bomb move
~the ai will be fixed so it's not that big of a problem
~for some reason when i do his SGS mugen slows down/lags ALOT right before he says, "i am
  batman." i dunno, maybe it's my computer, not sure
other than that good job peoples :thumbsup:
Who knows.
This was only a first beta to show you how all of your sprite-work has come together. How a forum can all pitch in, regardless of your talent level, and contribute. This is a forum-wide project and is a forum-wide beta test also. You cannot judge this character as a complete replacement for other Batman's you may have, but is definitely something to aspire that will EVENTUALLY replace that one Batman that you wished did not die...
Thanks guys I can tell alot of effort was put into this Team creation. My props also goes to forum members who have helped a great deal.
Wish the block-pushaway could be adjusted so it doesn't put him in his kicking animation. Other than that everythings A-OK. I notice he doesn't have much in the way of voice acting, perhaps this feature will be added in a later release?
That's is why I emphasize that they were talking about the project in general and even posted a link... :-?? I'm sorry but it's true.
Now, why did Buyog closed the topic after only a few responses, it's beyond me!
Anyway back on topic, I just gave the new batman another run and OMG, IMT... that thing is huge almost 60MB unzipped, it seems most of the sprites are the intro!! lol j/k
Yes, its got a few bugs here and there (it is an early release after all) but nothing significant though. The only thing that is really remarkable is the time it takes for mugen to load everything up.  ::salute::
Thanx for Batman, for a Beta he's pretty good
I like to play with him, but not fun to play against...
I don't know if this AI is some kind of IMT Standard, because I think I saw it in other IMT chars,
but it should be more agressive I think... he's easy to beat
Thanx again  :)
Post by: atomicbuster on November 03, 2008, 09:25:42 AM
Here's some feedback. Since I'm sure you know "the good" I'll only point out "the bad":
1)What's up with the 183-hit smoke bomb???
2)Stance looks too aggressive and looks misaligned (head is frozen while body moves)
3)The taunt doesn't exist, I think
4)Standing and Crouching attacks are misaligned
5)All attacks need more transitional frames
6)All attacks' anim elem times need adjustment to make them smoother
7)Double 'whoosh' sound on crHK
8)The walking anim looks like it should be only be for walking backwards
9)The current bat swing looks poorly animated
10)If you jump right after batarang it will go away (that part's fine), but if you "catch" it while jumping, you get stuck in air
11)Throw is too quick and not animated enough
12)Thrown opp vels could be adjusted
13)Sound for freeze bomb is too loud
Thanks for all the hard work. Since it's still under development, I'd like to make some suggestions.
1)For the smoke bomb hyper, you could try making him throw three different bombs instead of just one(freeze, electric, stun, etc.). He could probably even roll back, like Rolento does.
2)I think he could use another throw.
3)He should throw the batarang in the air.
4)I think the batarang should come back to him, like Capt. America's shield does.
5)I think he could "glide" through the air using his cape, like Twelve does.
6)Helpers/Strikers. 'Nuff said.
Nothing is misaligned, everything is alligned exactly how it should be for this batman character. It's official. If somone ever reprograms him they need to match this allignment or else it will be misaligned.
There are some missing items, like a taunt, no one has made on yet. As for additional frames, most attacks have exactly as many frames as the original capcom base did, so I feel good using Capcom as a measuring stick. :-??
Some of the other stuff (a few good issues here):
1) It used to be a hyper, that's all, Let's get that fixed.
7) Double whoosh, good catch, let's fix it.
10) Air cataching batarang error will be fixed.
13) Freeze sound too lound, I use a headset while coding so I miss many of the sound volume stuff.
other stuff:
3) Variations of the batarang throws are allready in process.
4) The batarang does come back to him.
6) Sorry, there won't be any strikers here. I am dead set against adding any strikers that will likely make a good Mugen character themselves. I think strikers are simply a good excuse for not making new moves for the character themselves.
Acey i luv the batman but i was wondering could the following things be added
Could batman some how have an uppercut like ryu or somethin, he really needs it, also seeing that he studied karate and ninjitsu as well, i dont see why it would hurt,
Also could the grappling hook be longer cus it sticks to the life bars and it doesnt seem like it really grapples on anything so i think if u made it seem like it grappled on something off screen it would look even better plus is there anyway to make batman with more upward cus i think that when he doest he move on the ground, he does it too low, i think he should swing a lil higher with the move since he is using a grappling gun to swing at u...
and also could he have another hand to hand combat hyper (Melee hyper where he does alot of punches and kicks)
I think that would also make him more fun to play with
Now if i had the sprites for the uppercut, i would code it in myself and send him to u, but the other melee hyper, i can code that in myself
So if u want i'll do the melee hyper and send it to u so u can see what it looks like and then u can tell me what u think ok.....
This is awesome, now all we need is superman!!!!!  :thumbsup:
I made like 2 hypers more for superman, plus i made it where he chains alot easier than before and i made him kinda faster cus i mean, he is superman for crying out loud
Agreed on number six.
My only nitpick is the push-away animation after blocking an attack where it puts him in his kick animation. I think a different animation is nessesary, also I think that 183-hit is overkill. XD Even though I like the positioning of it acts like a geyser which I think is cool. I don't think it's nessesary to have him roll back like Rolento...perhaps he can remain in the one spot? Then toss down the 3 grenades with the electricity, ice, fire, etc. Everything else is admirable. The swing kick seems fine just low that's all, I also think it should make a fierce kick sound on impact. POW!
=D> congratulations to this topic, so many critics, and i don t see a sprite posted or a code. Except race45 that i m sure will create some new hypers in two days :thumbsup:. So let me explain:
"It s an open forum project where you can all contribute" but you don t have to contribute by writing i want this or this or this. JUST DO IT and SEND IT.
I m not talking about the bugs found, acey and all mugen creators need this feedback to update.
Thts my two cents.   XD||
By the way, the more i play with him, the more i like him.  :P
You and me both.  o.O#
Firstly, congratz to everyone how helped out with the batman project to date. I am simply blown away with the animation and gameplay to this character so far.  =D> =D>
Cheers to Acey for intercepting everything sugguestion, move idea, and sprite we've thrown at ya from all directions to have implemented into the character. Not too many people can say that they've sucessfully managed a forum wide WIP to the level that his batman holds.
My only suggestion (if it hadn't already been mensioned) is in one of the hypers "I am batman", when he holds the opponent in Statedef 3605, the sprite priority has the opponent sitting in front of batman's hands..
Quote
;p2state
[Statedef 3605]
type    = S            ;State-type: S-stand, C-crouch, A-air, L-liedown
movetype= H            ;Move-type: A-attack, I-idle, H-gethit
physics = S            ;Physics: S-stand, C-crouch, A-air
juggle  = 0            ;Number of air juggle points move takes
velset = 0,0         ;Set velocity (x,y) (Def: no change)
ctrl = 0            ;Set ctrl (Def: no change)
poweradd = 0         ;Power to add (Def: 0)
sprpriority = 1
I'd set the sprpriority to 1 here, so that batman is the top layer with his arms seen, and looks more like his actually grabbing the opponent. I'm sure that just a nit pick suggestion but i just wanted to be useful and give some feedback. Great Great Great stuff with this char!
Both stances are in there and if you punch, he will return to stance 2. If you kick, stance 1. Both are utilized.
good stuff, but his batarangs are weird if you hit the opponent they go away but if they hit the opponent they fly backwards after. shouldn't it be the other way around? also I feel the swing kick should be with both feet like in the series, good work though
New update, he has a great AI now, the SFF file has been reduced as much as it can be (blame the smoke, explosion, gas and other such FX for the large file) and some other bug fixes. I totally removed the part where he cataches the Batarang until I get a chance to look at it.
Weel, the difference in the sff files was only the difference between 50 MB and 40 MB so I guess we'll scratch that and go back to the old SFF file.  :-??
Regarding the manner it was compressed, I have no idea how anyone would get around the mugen world without winrar or winace. PErhaps it's about time to download one of those pieces of free software...
If you are going to include both stances in the SFF you could just change the anim header of the AIR file.
I'd rather have extra unused sprites in a characters SFF than not enough.
it may not change. Like Ex mentioned, it may just get incorporated into two stances, kick and punch respectfully.
Or two Sff files may be released.
Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu (a game I have for my Gamecube) has some good lines that would be great. It has the same guy who did his voice from The animated series.
There was a guy who had offered to rip the sounds from Rise of Sin tzu, but he disappeared from the forum, and I never got anything but a few sounds. I was going to clean them up for IMT but alas no luck. I can probably find some music free stuff, Ive just been busy re-doing Robin.
I've been in the hospital.  That's why, and also why I haven't been able to post the remixed music I promised.  I'd gotten stabbed in the face with metal that got stuck in my face cutting the lawn. and my mom's been in and out of the hospital since April.  No one told me what else they'd like for voice samples.  I'm back so if you want 'em I'll do them.
"It s an open forum project where you can all contribute" but you don t have to contribute by writing i want this or this or this. JUST DO IT and SEND IT.
Maybe not a good idea because...
Nothing is misaligned, everything is alligned exactly how it should be for this batman character. It's official. If somone ever reprograms him they need to match this allignment or else it will be misaligned.
There are some missing items, like a taunt, no one has made on yet. As for additional frames, most attacks have exactly as many frames as the original capcom base did, so I feel good using Capcom as a measuring stick. :-??
Some of the other stuff (a few good issues here):
1) It used to be a hyper, that's all, Let's get that fixed.
7) Double whoosh, good catch, let's fix it.
10) Air cataching batarang error will be fixed.
13) Freeze sound too lound, I use a headset while coding so I miss many of the sound volume stuff.
other stuff:
3) Variations of the batarang throws are allready in process.
4) The batarang does come back to him.
6) Sorry, there won't be any strikers here. I am dead set against adding any strikers that will likely make a good Mugen character themselves. I think strikers are simply a good excuse for not making new moves for the character themselves.
Actually, I thought there were a few more "good issues."
1)Still has double whoosh on crHK.
2)Still no taunt
3)crMK looks like he's...balancing on one knee?
4)walking anim needs more even up/down motion. Look at Cyclops as Capcom measuring stick.
5)Standing HK is indeed misaligned because the foot on which he pivots is not where it is in the stance. Look at Cable as Capcom measuring stick.
6)Standing LK is also misaligned...Look at Cable as Capcom measuring stick.
7)Standing MP back foot needs improvement. Looks a bit choppy and should NOT slide back.
8)Standing HP does not look appropriate because he seems to leap up from a low position, spin, and land back in a low position.
9)um...head is STUCK, while rest of body move...??? Smells like misalignment to me.
These last 5 issues are only evident because of the stance. The alternative one by ALEXZIQ is better because his feet are closer together and it gives him better balance from which to strike. He's not doing a psuedo-split, so the animations for attacks work better. Try it and you'll see.
JASONTODD: If I make suggestions, and then JUST DO IT, then I may as well make my own character or my edit of an existing char. My contribution is to point out inconsistencies the creator(s) may have missed. After all, making a char is very meticulous work. They can do their own troubleshooting with the info. That's what makes it their char, not my char.
Title: Re: Batman by the Infinity Mugen Team Forum
I think the standing hard punch looks off because the sprites are slightly too small. The walk looks a little odd size wize compared to the stance as well.
Im sure that is mostly because of the multiple spriters involved in this. I think one person just needs a bug report on the sprites, and some one can go through and resize, and touch up a few sprites. Im sure someone will eventually.
Its a beta  :-??
Could you explain what you mean by "legitimate" bug-testing? Somewhere in that comment I detect the suggestion that bug-testing follows a certain prescribed formula. I can only guess at what that would be, but let's see...
To me bug-testing implies looking for bugs in a character. A bug, I guess, is an error that should not be in the character.
To me these are the 7 parts or facets of a character in which bugs may be found:
Basic Functions Coding (.cns), User Coding (.cmd), AI Coding (cns/cmd), Sprites (.sff), Animation (.air), Sound, (.snd), and Color (.act). Lastly, there is the 8th facet of the char which I will call "artistic direction." This deals with the idea for a char that a creator is trying to bring to light. This is also an area in which bugs may be found.
So based on my guesswork, a legit bug test for this char would look like this:
(example)
.cns - Every attack in the CNS delivers damage to the opponent and puts them in a "damage" state. Good.
.cmd - All the command names are in quotes except Bat Swing. Need to put Bat Swing command name in quotes.
.cns/.cmd - All the trigger1 are "Statetype = A". Recommend a modification.
.sff - All frames exhibit correct palette except 5,0. Recommend you use Dos2Win on char.
.air - Anim elem 600,4 does not end in "-1." Recommend you change time value to infinite.
.snd - All required sounds are present. Good.
.act - pal2 shows the transparencies. Switch the transparency color to box at bottom right of palette.
artistic direction - Batman has body armor which restricts movement, so he shouldn't be made to appear as flexible and agile as, say, Spider-man. Maybe you should revamp the stance anim to reflect this trait.
So would this be an example of legitimate bug-testing?
Have to disagree with that statement. Batman's comic and animated costume is about as simplistic as Superman's. Movie adaptations overthink the suit, adding armor and such because they feel it adds to the realism. The only real "Armor" he has is the cape, which is sometimes depicted as a special type of lightweight material that can deflect gas and such.
In the comics he wears lightweight protective kevlar that doesn`t restrict his movement.
I agree that movie adaptations overthink the suit.
OK people...that was just part of an EXAMPLE. Usually one gives examples to support a point. The recipient is usually asked to respond to/answer/refute the point which is being illustrated. To focus on a minor detail means you missed the point. These last 4 posts didn't address the issue of "legitimate" bug-testing, but show off how comics/movie trivia abounds.
So I'd like to make it very simple: Is the EXAMPLE I gave previously an EXAMPLE of the action of "legitimate" bug-testing? Please respond to the question.
Look, maybe you feel like youve been villanized for posting critique, and maybe you were to a degree. I think I speak for all of us when I say were sorry if we took your critique too personal. But seriously lets not clog up the thread with pointless drama, and debating this point.
Its counter productive.
Were all friends here so no need to fight amongst ourselves. I agree with some of your points, but I will say that a lot of characters have kicks where the back foot moves forward, and doesnt stay with the stances back foot position, so I kinda disagree that their misalligned. I think that the kicks were intentionally animated that way.
Dude, your initial point was "artistic direction." My point was just to show that the "artist direction" is fine as it is. I didn't attack you that any time during my statement, I simply disargeed with part of your evauation, and it was the part that really had nothing to do with the bug report overall.
OK. I wasn't trying to fight with anyone, just asking for better communication through clarification. If the kicks were intentionally animated that way, that's fine. But since I thought it was still a beta, I figured a few things, like anim issues, still needed to be resolved. I'll try to have less drama in my posts.
Dude, your initial point was "artistic direction."
No, it was "legit" bug-testing.
My point was just to show that the "artist direction" is fine as it is. I didn't attack you that any time during my statement, I simply disargeed with part of your evauation,
If I were truly making that evaluation, you would be totally right. But it was only an example, a HYPOTHETICAL POSSIBILITY, dude.
and it was the part that really had nothing to do with the bug report overall.
And quality of animation does have to do with the overall bug report.
People want their creations evaluated only one way, their way. Any other way of evaluating a character seems to be illegitimate, so I was trying to find out how the creator(s) preferred that their character be tested. I see animation that doesn't look like it fits the char and in my mind it looks like a bug, so I report it as buggy animation. Is that considered illegitimate?
Finally I could test this Batman... I suggest to concentrate in the sprite area by now, I loved how it turned out... BUT I guess that maybe you can change some lil' things... like:
- Walk back and FWD anims... is like seing cyclops in action... maybe some frankenspriting should work...
- Add 1 frame more for dash fwd (for the sprite that lasts 14 ticks in that anim) so the cape can be animated too.
- Fix a Med Punch X axis pos, specially after the very final of the move
- Add some mid frames for some moves, like the boomerang attack and the laso attack (I loved this one specially in air BTW)
- Fix the head in the stance a bit, the sprites ARE actually aligned, but the head in the same pos always looks a bit odd, doesn't match with breathing stucture in Batman. (You know, the head goes up and down a bit when you breathe)
Is all what I see, but I have to say that this looks very good to be a beta. Congratulations to all the spriters and Acey, this Batman is turning out pretty well :D
Keep on the good work
See ya!!! :D
I think some people could say that about your signature as well.
I think its pretty sad that people throw down the "gay" card when it comes to Batman and Robin, and or Nightwing. Not you persay, but I hate it that people are such knuckledragger cromagnons that they can fathom the Father son relationship, and are so societally trained to be ape like masculine that they look at any form of appreciation of love between 2 men as "gay".
Batman cant have any normal relationships, and Alfed, and his sons are all he has. As far as "gay" goes Bats, and Nightwing have probably done the fandango with the hottest comic chicks in fandom. I'm pretty sure that if Batman could jump out of a comic, and knock somebodys teeth out, it would be for someone calling him, and Robin "gay". Not because because his sexuallity is threatened, but because some one would even think he would ever think anything sexual toward his adopted sons.
Im Peter Griffen, and thats what grinds my gears :D
Hey,
Congrats on the release, and I don't want to be nitpicky but the Batman in the bottom left corner seems to be anatomically incorrect in comparison to one he's fighting. I'd slim it down myself, but I'm busy with school, so maybe during the Christmas Holidays.
The batarang ending reminds me of Homestar Runner.
Also, some sort of sound effect/dialog would really help the suspension of disbelief for the comm-link ending.
yeah, it's like that in MVC2.  :D
It works real well for Cutman and Marrow, but i don't think Batman's nature is aggressive enough to go around randomly throwing batarangs at the camera.
Depends on which Batman we're talking about because there's like a ton of them.
Back in the day (I'm talking about the 1950's) Batman used to kill people.
THANKS everyone, i was thinking about a new ending like marrow, where he throw the batarang and breaks your computer screen with a bat symvol:
(http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn216/THEJASONTODD/ALPHA.jpg)
Awesome idea! I love when Marrow does that. BTW kong's Marrow does have this.
Anyway, I think it would totally work if you had a totally detailed Batarang so that when it hits the screen you could get a good look at it. Or you could do like someone suggested and make it a Bat symbol instead. I'm sure there are plenty of those around.
As for the rationale for his aggression, it would totally work if you made it seem like he thought he saw somebody whom he has no qualms about attacking, like Bane or Scarecrow. Before he chucks the projectile he could yell "Is that Bane!?", etc.
Maybe that could work better with the Joker's laugh. In The Killing Joke, we could see that Batman was interrogating a false Joker, so why not hear the Joker's laugh and say something like "A copycat?!" and throw the batarang. I think that Heath Ledger's laugh would be great, in my opinion.
Later!
Ok, I'm doing the taunts and grunts again for the voice.
You still need the KO voice correct?  In the game he goes "Strength fading...."  Then the commissioner's voice comes on and says "They finally got you after all these years..."
I also have season 1 of Batman Beyond and the Beyond Joker movie.   Pre fight voice from an episode:  "What do you want from me?"
Howsabout for fight against Robin I can rip the line from the movie:  "Stupid boy!   None of you kids ever knew what you really wanted."  (when he told off Terry and Terry dropped the suit and stormed out.)
Sub-Zero and Scorpion would stand a better chance of being approved by their respected creator(s), as for Superman and Wonder Woman, she'd have to take it up with Loganir, Hannibal, and team, from the DCvM forum. Loganir seems to be on vacation and Hannibal is barely on due to personal reasoning.
Hey,
Congrats on the release, and I don't want to be nitpicky but the Batman in the bottom left corner seems to be anatomically incorrect in comparison to one he's fighting. I'd slim it down myself, but I'm busy with school, so maybe during the Christmas Holidays.
-Turbanator
PS- Thanks Acey for fixing that credit issue up
I don't know about the bottom left Batman, but the bottom right Batman seems a bit odd.. The right leg isn't aligned to the other leg (and the opponent's legs for that matter), he also has a strange look of his face but maybe that's just me.  :-??
I think you have to keep in mind there were several spriters involved, so there are definately some size, and variance difference on the sprites. Some are too small, some heads are too big, ect. The only way its going to be 100% consistant is if the same person draws them all.
Thats just part of the fun of the project. It was something differant, and with an early beta its perfectly normal, and anytime theres an all together project, I think this will be the norm. :-??
The effects are in hi res, including BG effects, and they have transparencies in some moves, so is logical the slowdown, this kind of stuff adds extra procesing tme for mugen in your CPU... is normal. Unless you got a 6 Ghz quad core procesor...
Maybe your processor can handle better extensive works and math operations, some new models of Core 2 Duo (Intel) and Turion X2 (AMD) have no issues with this type of processing works. Also depends on the system memory you got for your PC, DDR2 - 800 Mhz Memories are the minimal recommended (of course, if your Motherboard and processor supports that) and 1 GB of RAM. Take in Mind that this reqs are for WinMUGEN + or HI RES, because normal mugen doesn't take as much resources, just because stages and select screen aren't procesed in high res "forced" mode.
In my case just 1 move offers slowdown to my semprom 3400 + processor and 512 MB RAM system, the "I'm Batman" move (the one wich grabs the oponent) because of the final flame effect, everything else goes through 60 - 55 FPS.
And yes, I don't know about another Batman, but this one is the best I've seen by now... I doubt that scruffy people can do something similar, the only great chars from DC I've seen from them are Wonder Woman and Etrigan... and maybe SuperBoy, but nothing else, the others aren't too bad, but AI needs a LOT of polishing (they have infinite priority in 40% of the moves they got so far...)
Keep on the good work, as I said before, concentrate the most on the sprites, so you can code easily and without being worried about cosmetic fixes.
See ya!!! :D
P.D. @Acey - Is the team still working on the voices?
I tested out this Batman and i have to say that he pretty good nice sprites, like the intros very creative hypers and special moves and whats up with the 183 hit smoke bomb...  :DxDie One thing i noticed is he is in the need of sounds well i might be able out in that department i have 2 Batman games for Xbox, Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu and Dark Tomorrow or Vengeance, so I'll rip sounds from those games and upload it on my site. :thumbsup:
Actually I think that's a little hard on the SD team. I agree with the hit priority in palces but such small issues are hardly something to deny the rest of their characters from the "great" status.
We're still looking for voices. Batman is far from finished.
You can't please everyone  :-?? But I agree, Batman has at least another 2 necessary Hypers to be sprited and coded in someday. People are still submitting material for Bats which is great news.
Gentlemen,
I'm sorry I wasn't able to post these voice samples before Batman was released.  Here they are, mp3s, and the remix of the animated series intro I'd promised. I'm still learning what my PC can do, so I hope Acey and the rest of you can use this stuff. If needed I got more Batman stuff that can be used.
Here's the voice samples. On the 6 minute one, you'll hear him go "TOO EASY!!!" and  "I am Vengence." at around the 4:10 mark or so.:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GLS8B1OF (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GLS8B1OF)
And now the remixed music. Mind you the track is 9 mintues and I tried for high quaility. Good for survival mode, etc...:
I found only two lines from the 1989 movie that could be used for the win pose where he throws the batarang at the screen.  Both are done by Jack Nicholson:
"Come on you gruesome son of a bee-otch!!! Come to me!!!"
*sound of TV being broke* "What kind of a town do we live in where a man dressed up as a bat steals all of my press?"
I really could find anything the thugs would say that would fit good. Do you guys want these lines?
I hate to agree, but it's true. These character's are getting bigger and bigger. My Mugen is over 8gb now. I wanted to compile a definitive mugen with all fighting game characters (excluding clones) and using minimal space.
Either way, if it means losing some features to make batman a smaller file size, then keep him the way he is.
Great work Acey!
Can't wait for Haggar!
The various lives of Batman in the Life Trap would be interesting, too.
Although I am for Crisis on Infinite Earths if there is an animatic of Superboy Prime punching the multiverse.
How many Batmans are in mugen??
Well let's see. There:
Magus' Batman
Spiderbat's revamp of that batman.
Spiderbat's TAS Batman
Our Batman (which is being revamped)
Spiderbat's JLA Batman
This new Batman from Alucard
The Batman Beyond coming soon.
The JLU batman coming soon.
...wow, Batman's almost has as many reworks as Wolverine...
Well all of Spiderbats are being combined into one so that cuts down. JLU Batman will be the epitomy of all those released. Basically JLU Batman is going to be the most complete version of his vision, with a lot of new surprises
Uh... I know that it've been a long time since the last post on this topic, but this is the first time I've known 'bout this "Batman Version".
I downloaded it and played it on my mugen. But I've found out that it doesn't look like what I've seen here ! Batman doesn't stand up straight, in fact he spreads his legs wide (maybe that is the older version ???  :-??).
Also, almost none of his Hyper Moves are like what I've seen on the Youtube video "Batman Mugen Update".  ~X(
Can anyone help me with the problem ?
You have the only version on the IMT Batman available, the updated version has been put on hold since AFTER we all waited years and years for a good Batman we finally all got togeher to make Batman but then immediatly following about 50 billion others decided to make Batman as well. Untill the next release comes out what you downloaded is all there is. There are some great Batman mugen characters out the though, especially the one by Alucard and another by Spiderbatz.
The other 2 batman's are soo cool man, but  i love this version too, the visual sprite style is really cool.. the only thing on this Batman is the high FX's just make my PC run too slow on some moments but i know that's because my old PC requirement. i can't wait for a new cool update on this version.
:thumbsup:
