Title: Fireman MVC Styled
Post by: laspacho on October 11, 2008, 05:34:44 PM
This is my latest wip that I am working on Fireman.
Originally I was not going to show for a while but since posting his first pic when I finished my previous Wip Lou I have generated so many questions on different boards by pm and in the screen shot threads I think it's a good time to start showing things off.   ;D

Calamix has given me full permission to continue his work on Fireman and create him as I see fit.  Thanks very much Calamix, your work is awesome!   8)  8)
The major change I made to his work is I that  changed how the legs are shaded, but I am keeping the original way Calamix shaded the legs.  I have already redone the original 50 sprites I was given and made other major changes to lots of them too since some were un finished and some I just wanted to change.  I have also worked on various basics and other stuff.  The next time I work on Fireman I will continue to work on his running frames.   ;D

Here is the difference.  The 1st pic is my style Fireman and the 2nd pic is Calamix's Firman.

As usual , you & Excursion do nothing but impress me with your talent for making megaman robots . I really like the flaming " Raiden " move .

I think the consensus is saying his head & arms are too small , though .

Looking great. I personally like the way the head and arms look as is. I think it's fitting that his busters are thinner and longer then the usual buster arms others have. Keep it up, loving the look.

The head is staying the same. The head you posted is the same one that I am using.:-??

your metalman was crazy last year, from the screenshots you posted this guy will be just as hot. no pun intended...

Thanks, Wait until you check out Crashman eventually. ;D
Airman's sprites are getting sort of close too. Once he is done Fireman becomes priority 1.

Airman, Crashman, Electricman, Fireman oh my. :)

Excellent work.

I put Quite a bit of work into Elecman. He would actually be beta worthy if coded. One day O Ilusionista will show I suppose. I haven't seen him around in a while.

hahaha awesome.

this guy needs a headbutt for one of his basics or something.

Hmm not a bad idea, I'll see what I can do.

Wow I didn't even realize this is where his head came from, forgot about those cd's.  (I have the game on GBA)  I just started where Calamix left off.  Now I know.   I have other original heads Calamix drew to use for stuff too. ;D

YAY Fireman MVC on mugen, good luck with him.

That is the Dr. Wily that does not work.  Fer619 got him to actually load in mugen but he still needs lots of work as he messes up all the time.  He's great for a screen shot though.   ;)

I widened your head by two pixels, and made the fire on top one pixel longer.

I'll check it out again.  Tks ;D

Actually at the moment that is his portrait, I like the pic.   ;)
Not sure what the portrait will be in the final product but since you are nice enough to give me the permission to use it, it will include it with the character so it can be easily switched to with FF.
Thanks very much.

Nice work man, I love this character.

but I dont like the shadows on his feets...they are odd.

And the move that he flies through the screen could be done on another way (there is a ease way to do this on photoshop)

good luck man

Wow it's been since November since I posed in this topic.  So here's a update.
I have been working hard on Fireman.  I have 11 out of 12 basic attacks done, run, jumps, duck, dashes and some specials/hypers done.
What has been stopping me form posting is I wanted to bust out a cool video showing progress instead of screens.  All was going good with moving sprites into my base and then I messed it up pretty bad so I pretty much need to start adding from scratch again.   o.O#
Now keep in mind I did NOT loose any sprites, just wasted coding time and my time.  I did manage to snap some screens though.  So I will show a few off for the next three days.  Instead of wasting more time re adding stuff from scratch for a video I am just going to go back to spriting more and finish some of my un-finished sprites.  (No red on legs like in dashes.)
So Enjoy the Screens!

He's looking great. Always love these Robot Masters. :)

Two questions I had though on his look. First, I see above his knee in the first screen he has some red but not in the other screens. Is this what you meant about going back and finishing some sprites.? Second, are his legs a different shade of grays than his body.? Just wondering for palettes sake.

Either way, it all looks wonderful. Keep it up.

Yes the red on his knees need to be done on a bunch of sprites, it's a pain to do.  I had quite a few idea's for attacks so I wanted to sprite them first. Since I'm stumpted on what to do the final jump kick I am actually drawing the red on the knees right now on some sprites.
They grey is the same on his body. Calamix made it this way to begin with so I stayed with how he did it, I like the shading it makes him different and custom.  In the first post I have a comparison of his version and mine and I show what I did change in the coloring of the legs, and I show a alternate pallet.  ;D

I wasen't planning on a exe out hyper but we will see after I make the hypers/specials that are in my head.
Small.. really?  Fireman stands taller then three Megaman's and Protoman.   ;)

Cool.  Thanks for the idea.

Lapacho, if you want, I can do a better flaming pyscho crusher to you (like I've done to Red Cyclone)

Sure I would love to see what you have in mind, thanks O Ilusionista.

If anyone knows of a fireball I can use that would be good for the Fireball shield (Like when Megaman shoots Fireman's power in MM1)  let me know.
Thanks

I decided to play cleanup with the pics and remove the obsolete ones that did not have the completed sprites.  (The red on the legs.)  So here are new ones to replace them with the finished sprites.

Here all the ducking kicks in one post they of course have more sprites in game.   ;D

Not yet.  I have a couple neat pictures that might be able to be used if you would like me to send them let me know.  If your interested in making a hyper port, by all means please give it a shot, you did a awesome job on Airman's hyper port.
Thanks very much.   ;D

I see a regular select screen port with a pic from the old cartoon show (Which I am using at the moment), but I don't see a hyper port there.   :-??

Flaming Teleport?
well theres lots of ways you could do that, you could have a small flaming whirlwind effect for teleporting, or a simple explosion, or a piller of fire bursting out of the ground. Lots of ways..

Oh attack idea, a DnD style fireball
What it does is you get a smal ball of fire that explodes into a giant area when it hits soemthing or when it gets to a spot.
You could set it up so that when it goes far enough or hits the guy, a small ball of fire explodes into a chun-li hyper thingy size explosion

I was playing with Storms big whirlwind but didn't have much luck.  Maybe someone else might have some luck with it?..
Neat idea I'll have have to look at some DnD sprites.

I ment Dungons and Dragons, its all descriptive because i mean the version with dice and paper. You'd have to use sprites from other places and sources to make it lol.

I ripped Fireman, Elecman, and Dr. Wily (All in English) already myself from Powered up.  Fireman also sounds similar to how Metalman sounds so I might be able to use alternate recordings from Metalman for hit sounds or something.

You know... sence he has no hands, why not have him grab with his feet?
Like he stands on his blasters and grabs your neck with his feet and tosses you.
Or he jumps on your head, and fips you into the ground and then stomps on your head once or something like that.

I would prefer an explosive headbutt for his throw. the throw distance it inflicts could be similar to iron man's dashing wall slam.

Not a bad idea for a grab with his feet or a head but, just not sure how I'm going to pull it off.  I'll give it a shot.  ;D
