Title: making/editing stages

i wanted to be able to release some stages, but how do i know if the stages i'll be taking pieces from are open source? where can i find out which authors let people use some of their stuff? anybody know any good sites where they have items for me to use for stages? sorry if i posted in the wrong section. thanks in advance for the help.

Deviantart is a good place to get stuff but you must ask permission first as its a art community. Places like the MK warehouse here (http://www.mortalkombatwarehouse.com/) you can use freely.

Check the database under "Open Source". There are resources there that can help. It's usually safest to look for open-source sprites for stages rather than take them from existing stages. You could also try to contact the authors of the stages you are editing and ask their permission.

Oh yeah before I forget, You never ever use JPG unless its a high quality image.
