Since Crashman's sprites are almost done here is some Airman Stuff. 8)
Calamix has been kind enough to let me use his Power Battle Airman for anything I need, so Thanks Calamix
His stance at the moment has eyes that blink and the fan moves.
Ignore the yellow shine on the boots I removed that already.
I'm thinking for his run to have him float forward using his fan to push him forward...

Airman looks so fresh and so clean clean, great stuff. The Robot Masters are starting to become some of my favorite Mugen characters. So hows his spriting going anyways? The shine on the boots weren't even an issue to me, I would have left it like that for color depth.

Spriting is going pretty good. Just a matter of finding time and being in the mood to sprite. Pallet making is much easier without that shine on the boots. ;D
I made that Crashman smiley a while back for fun. (Crashman does a salute in a winpose and talks) l don't know if this smiley will be added to the site or not. I guess it depends if people like it. :-??

Great that you announced him officially! When you release this one, will be a holiday in Japan (as they really love Airman!)
You should take advantage of the fan in most of him moves!

I HAVE AN AWESOME IDEA FOR A THROW!
airman grabs the opponent, and blasts them across the screen with a storm tornado type of attack that comes out of his chest. he can shove them across the screen and bounce them off the wall with it.

It will act like that Giant scissor MVC Cutman rides on. It's huge and you can control it. I can see it clearly in my mind now. :w00t:

Lots and lots.
For the original Megaman series there is eight of them and then the Megaman and Bass game, and just counting the eight main robots per game (Except for Megaman one which has 6) that makes 70 bosses. (Bass, roll, megaman, protoman aren't even in this count) ;*))
Then there is the x series, ect... :D

Thanks man, glad you like.
It's gotta be a lot of custom stuff to make him be the correct size stand out, and since I am using the complete upper torso from the power battles Airman.

Looking good so far man. I can tell your using that powerbattles body for air man, I used it when I made Hammer Joe, sept I enlarged it abit, well extended it really, lol I bet its a pain to have to make new frames for some of his moves, espcealy with how little he moves his body in PB.
LOL that fight with SJ I see right there makes me wonder, whats the sprite number for the portrate on those life bars? When we get the bugs fixed I want to have something there.

Yea it's interesting trying to draw out the different body angles and I'm sure it's going to get even more interesting as I get further along. ;D
Simple for the port in the life bars just add in a sprite and set it as. Metalman has the port your welcome to look.

i think he is right, but if it hurts the effectiveness of the punch,
i would go for functionality and playability, over looks and realism.
i'd say test both and see if short arms suck to fight with or not, it all depends of the overall speed of the characters attacks and what not

I shortened the arm by a few pixels, it did extend too far.

Just watched the vid . This guy looks awesome ! All the moves look great I like the fact that he sucks stuff in & shoots it . That block is sweet too .
One problem I see is the stance . Too me he just doesn't do enough . That fan spinning is really cool , but then he just stands there & blinks his eyes . Just looks too stiff to me . Maybe it's just me though . Other than that everything looks awesome

I never thought too much about airman but I bet if you made a version of servbot, you'd no doubt make him a feat in itself. Love airman but DT and I seem to see a some jerky movements from airmman, probably cause he doesn't have a stance. I would say float but a certain Egyptian boss master should only have that. so something creative, have him dance or something, just anything besides him just standing there. :D

Thanks peoples, I'm glad you like his progress so far. That video took soooo long to edit. ;D
I'm not sure what I want to do with the stance, I figured since he is a bulkier robot he could just stand there spin his chest blade and blink, although I am open to some suggestions if he is too stiff. Maybe I could make his arms move a little.
I have also finished some more sprites already for Airman so he will move a little more fluent, they are not added in yet.
I also finished all 9 punches now, and some more stuff for specials and hypers. Next up on my list is I need to do 9 kicks. ;)
I was working on a standing light kick but I don't have the correct angle of the upper body to do it. I tried re-drawing it but have not had any luck with anything I like yet. Is anyone interested in drawing a side perspective of Airman's the top half of his body?

When performing a roundhouse kick like that, the arm moves opposite of the leg to maintain balance and increase momentum. If his arm moves forward it might look really unnatural, even for a robot. I think his bulky shape makes him different enough from Mega Man that a common move like that won't get people thinking "omg just like Mega Man!"
As for a stance, maybe he can bend at the knees a little, up and down. In a fight, you have to be ready to move and react at a moments notice, so even just a slight bounce will make him look more alive (even though he's a robot).
He looks great so far, keep it up! :thumbsup:

I would have to say since he is a bulky robot master just make his arms " spread out " & come back . Maybe have the one hand that he has do something . Or maybe just have him move his arms back & stick his chest/fan out , kind of to " show off " his special feature to the opponent . I really don't feel he should do any breathing or anything like that . Just a little motion to bring him more to life in the stance . He's a great character & will most likely be my favorite robot master for mugen . The stance is the only thing I see that could be a weak point . His moves are awesome , I just watched the vid again . I still can't get over how great an idea that one where he sucks everything up & fires it at them is :thumbsup:

Think I might have a idea to add to the stance... 2 or 3 frams I think... But each frame needs to be done three times for account for the blade spinning...
Maybe I'll move his arms up like on the NES version...

I think his personality would lend well to a stance where he jsut stands there with the fan spinning, and blinks every now and then.

Hehe I was thinking the same thing. Airman takes a hyper from Magnetman, then Airman gets even with Magnetman and kicks him in the "nuts and bolts."

for a roll maybe u could have made him turn into a tornado and possibly make him have the only attacking roll to ad some depth to his game cuz nobody has that yet. its better than having him just roll like everyone else since he is big and clunky but to offset this ability and make it balanced i say if someone blocks it have a tiny window of attacking opportunity but not so big a window to make airman players hate it and never ruse it because you want it to be unsafe as well as safe to use as well as any roll is in mvc games

I think you are doing things perfect . I looked through the sprites to get some ideas on how to contort his body . For the most part standing & alot of the moves look stiff ( which is good ) But on some of the get hit sprites & certain other things ( the roll included ) ;*)) It would seem he could " flex " a little . You pulled it all off very well . Keep up the good work !

All that is left now is his third winpose that I originally wanted to make. I will probably make it eventually
