. You can only run on this kind of comic book for so long. They were going to run out of ideas eventually. That was the whole reason for the "ultimate" universe. Just to get more ideas and cash in on big names. Same with the films.
The Hulk always ends up with the stranger spin-offs out of the Marvel universe..

WOW and I thought Hulk 2099 was terrible

I know I posted some pics there of some Hulk that looked kinda like a Godzilla style but it had eggs on its back....maybe the old forum cuz I cant find it.

, I hated the last one, no really hated it. That son of hulk looks cool to me, and maybe the red one is like super mario turns red and spits fire.

Of course they're running out of ideas for the Hulk. It was a great concept, worked for years, but eventually the same thing doesn't work anymore. And honestly, there aren't many interesting directions Marvel can take him.

Without, you know, throwing politics into the stories to make them relevant, like thye do with every other comic. Which I hate, by the way. Instead of being timeless tales, it ages the stories so that reboot crap is needed.

I don't see how this can really revitilize anything. Eventually, they're going to be so desperate for ideas Hulk will have 62 seperate personalities and he'll have trouble agreeing to go to the toilet, much less fight big villains.

"Will Hulk convince his other personalities to go to the bathroom! Will he be able to shove them aside to save all the people! Tune in next issue!"

Yeah it's going to be a remake. If it doesn't have the leader in it then it will probably be just as bad.

What's worse then a remake of a good classic film?
A remake of a horrible film.
I honestly don't have faith in the Hulk 2008 film.

i don't think the red hulk is a new idea because they put it in Marvel vs Capcom, and it was thougher than normal hulk.

I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but I hardly count a pallete swap with increased powers as an "original idea". There was a gold War Machine too, if I recall correctly, but we haven't seen that.

Frankly, I don't think this whole Red Hulk thing is going to work. I haven't the foggiest idea what they can do to make this different and something other than Hulk with dyed skin and to make matters worse, it's being written by Jeph Loeb. I loved the guys Batman work, but it seems since he moved to Marvel, he hasn't exactly been churning out anything of great quality.

Any bets on how long it takes to go back to status quo with Banner as the big green again?

Orange Hulk was in MVC. He was a little quicker then the normal one.

I won't say Marvel is crap, but they definitely need some fresh blood or fresh ideas.

I mean, let's look at it this way. The Spider-Man franchise went downhill around when the marriage to MJ was editorially mandated; I can actually count the good storyline in those past twenty years on one hand. Hulk has gotten incredibly stale. The X-Men suffered for years before Grant Morrison came along and got stale directly afterwards again unless said book was written by Joss Whedon. Avengers has been good but hit or miss since Bendis took over. Ghost Rider hasn't seen a decent iteration in who knows how many years. Iron Man's been completely butchered since Civil War and the character has suffered for it.

It's safe to say their top shelf characters have taken a dive of late.

But where Marvel really shines is it's lesser known books. Stuff like Immortal Iron Fist. I never gave a damn about Danny Rand before this series, but I'll be damned if Matt Fraction doesn't spin a compelling series. Captain America's book has consistantly gotten better over years. Rarely has it been as good a time as now to be a Punisher fan, with both the mainstream and MAX versions reeking of excellence. This isn't counting other series I can name offhand.

Frankly, I'm partial to DC, but both have been going through a rut of late. I do think DC currently has a better rein on their top shelf properties right now though. Marvel looks like it might catch up in that regard too, as Spidey looks like he might finally have good stories again thanks to Brand New Day and the X-Men haven't been as good as they are in Messiah CompleX since Grant Morrison wrote Adjectiveless.

I still think the idea of a Red Hulk and Loeb writing it sucks though. My faith is furthur dampened by the first issue of Ultimates 3. Loeb doesn't have the writing ability he used to. =/
