Unexpected?Not so much,taking in account that DC already killed Sups once(and if it's worth the money,they would do it again)

And what about the alien batman from planet x? I reamember hearning hints that he'd come back to help with soemthing, but i havnt kept up, im susprized he isnt pictured here. Though the red half of the twoface batman reminds me of him.

Gun Batman is more than likely Jason Todd/ Red Hood

The Alien X Batman of Zurrenahr wasnt actually brought back. The costume and name was used as a back up personality for Batman, but it wasnt the same story at all.

Batman is obviously not permanetely dead though. Darkseids Omega Sanction is a fate worse than Death as it sends the persons Soul to horrible parallel lives where one is more torturous than the next (kinda like a Hell of sorts)

Mr Miracle has actually escaped Death from this Hell before, so one can assume in a year or so Batmans soul will figure out how to be rescued, or escape.

Why not? It is the best way for an ailing comic company to make money during economic hard times. I mean if you run a mini-series that says Batman R.I.P. it will sell, then wait to finish it til Final Crisis, you sell even more. Then fanboys will be buying up comics to see how they are going to bring him back. But they may not bring him back. I doubt that they won't bring him back, as the resolution of Final Crisis simply could be a retcon of the stories much like previous crisis issues were, and they could finish it with something that negates the Death of Batman outcome as if it never happened.

Now I dont think Darkseid meant the beam itself, I think he meant what it does to the person it hits. (traps their living soul in an ongoing series of torturous memories)

Batman says "try me" as in he thinks he can escape this fate, or (Hell).

Also the whole Earth is jacked, Darkseid has ruined, and destroyed reality, and time. The Atom, and Heroes who have survived are trying to dump the Earths survivors into a parallel time line to survive. Its really not just Batman who's gone, its pretty much the whole DC Earth.

Personally I enjoy DC better but thats me, Marvels blockbuster action, DC is a little more heady, and Supernatural oriented. Marvel was born out of rebelling against Supernatural type stuff.

Basicly, within fiction, and scientific theorys, there could be an infinate ammount of other universes.

Think of it like this. In this world your you, in another world you could have ended up becoming a superhero, or there could be an evil version of you out there.
Basicly, theres a version of you on almost every world.

They do this with dc. The comics are in a seperate universe then the cartoons.

Anybody who watches Supernatural saw Dean get out of Hell. It's going to be the same thing with Batman in the comics, only Batman will get out on his own. He is the worlds greatest Detective, and escape artist.

In the comics Batman has been going through a lot of psychological torment, and tests to prepare him for this in the issues leading up to this. In 52 he studied in Asia with the monks of Nanda Parbat where he went on a vision quest that prepared him for death.

Its far fetched but Batmans character has developed to the point where he literally is ready for any trial, and tribulation, and he knew it when he went up against the Darkseid. He knew what the blast would do to him, not to mention a fellow hero has already made it out of this Hell. In the meantime we get to see what it would be like to have Robin, and Nightwing play Batman for a year or so.

First: Props for the Supernatural reference, which comes back on tomorrow night.

Anyway. while if I was betting on this, I would bet Bruce Wayne will come back within the year, I really would like to see him stay dead. No multiverse version, no traveling through time, no trivializing his death by him crawling from 'hell'. If they play the series/storyline right, he dies a hero. If they bring him back, what is really the point, why not just let him stay dead, and let Grayson take over the mantle of the bat, permanently. I am a huge Batman fan, but I feel at least occasionally they should kill some of these characters off and not bring them back. I mean, I was truthfully disappointed in the Superman story of the 90's when they brought Superman back after his fight to the death with Doomsday. I feel that a major death in comics, not unlike that of Captain America relays the message that regardless of being a superhero, every action has a consequence. Also it could have great character dynamics with the remaining heroes and villains. I mean the some superheroes will have massive breakdowns, where others will step up and the villains, well...you never know with them. But that is my two cents, well more like a quarter, but still I think you guys get the jest of it.

I hear ya, and I myself am not big on Death. Now that Barry Allen (the Flash) is back after 20 years of being dead I want the old Justice League back together. I mean who wouldnt be curious if the Beatles were all alive and got back together

But since Darkseid's "Omega Sanction" Blast doesnt kill people the way a normal blast would its almost certain that Batman isnt dead in the traditional sense. And youre right it is a LOT like the Superman Death, only I think theyre being a lot more obvious that Batman will be back, where as they left it a bigger mystery as to how Supes would come back. Probably because theyre afraid of the backlash, err, or is it batlash
