It's nice to see us friends again and the tension dropped.  I just want to say that Obama being black had nothing to do with him winning, but the fact that everyone in this country reunited as one and found that Obama speaks for them.  If any had seen the speech, then they would have saw that people of different ages, backgrounds, gender, religion, etc. gathered in one place.  That is why he is also idol.

It's nice to see we can freely talk about how happy we are that Obama's president. :w00t:

Even though he's president it's going to be a while before he fixes the United States.

True. and @ Twon U r right about the bush thing well i think Mccain would of put up a better fight if he had made some better choices. It also said that A mistake of his was waiting all the way to the end to try to dismiss bush and stuff and act like he was different from him.

My mother said to me yesterday that she thought she would be long gone before she saw a black president and then gave me a hug.  Almost brought me to tears.  Im glad I lived to see it as well.

What I hope is that African American voters come out again (and even more) next election.

This was a hard fought race, but Barack has a lot ahead of him, and its going to be hard to get things back on track in just 4 years. He's going to need 8 years to fix this Country. There will be even more hate, and controversy by the Republicans come next election, and a lot of voters will expect too much in 4 years, and may not come back to vote for Barack next time.

I seriously hope people dont forget this. Urge your friends who didnt vote this time to make sure they get out, and do it next time!

That's what I fear. It's true it may take Obama all 4 years to fix it perhaprs even more. However during that time I'm sure things will get better for us.That's what I'm hoping for now. [-O<

I just Hope Obama can be just as convincing in the next 4 years than he was now.

well,if something is broken and you can't fix it on time, you need all the help possible to do so,and if politicians really care about the ppl(something that doesn't happen in the "3rd world") they will put differences aside and work together, instead of practically starting all over from scratch if they are opposition to the current government or continue with the bad things if they are from the government

@KPT25, I don't mean to pry, but I was wondering how does the system work in Argentina?  I've always wanted to go to Argentina.  Thanks.

whoa whoa whoa whoa, slow down Alex, yeah, I'm REALLY glad Obama won, honestly
but before you fall in love with the guy, we need to see how he does first.
ATLEAST let him get sworn in, and after the first year, THEN Judge him...

I may be white but I'm fine with a black president as it just shows that we are making everyone more equal and have the same chance at getting a certain thing. Next time I hope to see a Chinese or even a Hispanic president up in that big chair.

Sorry I never slow down, thats how we got 8 years of Bush, and fundementally I'll never vote Republican, the differances between their values and mine are night and day. I realized along time ago there just isnt a middleground for me. Growing up on Welfare in a small Conservative town has jaded me 4-ever toward Republicans. So its not about being in love with the guy, its about supporting the things I believe in.

If Barack really pizzed me off, I'd volunteer for the Nader camp in a heartbeat, but I know that just means my vote wont make a differance.

I dont think I have too much to worry about though, I think Obama is going to be a great leader. To get 80,000 people chanting his name in Europe is unheard of for a U.S. Politician.

voting is obligatory for anyone with the age of 18 for voting, exept the elderly who can actually decided whether to vote or not.A winner is decided if it gets more than 50% of the votes,or if it doesn't has an advantage of over 20% against the other candidates. The system is multi-party,meaning that there are a lot of parties available for voting, even though 2 or 3 gets the majority most of the times
If none of the requirments of victory are fulfilled, the election is decided by "Ballotage",meaning a second round of voting with the most voted candidates

I hope that clarifies that question for you Nilakantha :)
