Title: Aseprite - Animated sprite editor & pixel art tool
Post by: O Ilusionista on August 19, 2017, 08:34:55 PM
Aseprite  it's an awesome animated sprite editor & pixel art tool, which runs in Windows, Mac and Linux with a very nostalgic UI.

It features some nice tools, like:
Palette Control - Copy & paste. Drag & drop. Resize palette.

Pixel Perfect Stroke - Create perfect strokes for pixel-art.

RotSprite Rotation (built in) - Avoid extreme pixel distortions when rotating tiny sprites.

Shading Mode - Create light and shadows with the shading ink.

Download: You can download a trial version or buy the program for only $14.99

I've been using MS-paint (MSpaint version 1703 currently) for 20 years. Aside from the rotate tool, everything I'm seeing here can be done on it........ For free

I wouldn't recommend paying $15-$27 for 1 tool.

Sorry Sky, but this is not true. At least, not in the same way the program does:

•Does Paint rotate sprites? yes. Does it rotate the way this tool does? NO
•Does Paint let you make and edit palettes right from it? NO. Does paint let drag and organize palettes? NO, IT DOESN'T EVEN HANDLE PALETTES
•Does Paint do tiled graphics? yes, MANUALLY. Does it make as easy as on this program? NO.
•Does Paint Animate? NO
•Does Paint use Onion Skin? NO
And so on...

Appeal to authority, or the argumentum ad verecundiam, won't help here.

You guys make it sound as it was $150 or something. I am staring to regret of posting this here...

It's looks interesting to me for the Pixel Perfect Stroke feature. I would love to use my digital pen to draw sprites & could get a lot more work done with something like this.

:| OK? What just happened here?

•Does Paint rotate sprites? yes. Does it rotate the way this tool does? NO
True, I liked that part of it.

•Does Paint do tiled graphics? yes, MANUALLY. Does it make as easy as on this program? NO.
I agree.

•Does Paint let you make and edit palettes right from it? NO.
•Does paint let drag and organize palettes? NO, IT DOESN'T EVEN HANDLE PALETTES
•Does Paint Animate? NO
•Does Paint use Onion Skin? NO
All of those can be done via Fighter Factory. I'll use 2 free programs, rather than pay for 1.  Again, freeware.

With that out of the way, let me say this.... brother........ My dude-

I meant no disrespect to you, at no point in any of this was I taking a shot at you. Posting this wasn't a waste of your time, I'm glad you did, as one man's Gimp, is another man's Adobe.  If someone else thinks this is the best thing since KY jelly, more power to them.

What was said, it was only my opinion, speaking only from my perspective. If thats how it was taken, I apologize.

 :) Peace and respect  :)

i can make all of that in any descent game engine(just not the thing about palletes) but the engine i use don't suport palletes so i don't care so much about it. when is hard is more fun to make :-)

but if i HAD money(something i don't have, yeah i'm poor and i need food more than programs) i would take it. the money u said me is dollar right? converting those in reais are $44,00reais with that money i buy 2 or 3 pirate(again, i'm poor) xbox 360 games.
