Can a character be made if it is saved as a bmp?

you could but the colors wouldnt ..well it would look like crap.

just use pcx.

When I sprite I use 24 bit bmps.  When adding the pallet to the images with fighter factory it automatically changes the images to pcx for me.  It's just a matter of preference in what you like guess.   ;D

I use basically the same method as Laspacho, except I usually with with 256 color bitmap. 256 color bitmap images can actually be inserted into the .sff too without a format change.
