That's actually an interesting idea, though you may consider adding a bit more perspective to the floor

As for the shading, I'm a bit clueless in that department

Ouch, seems like colors didn't blend in properly in some areas, or masking isn't set up like it's supposed to be.

Seems like you actually don't have the right group order set. Let alone proper transparency.

That is okay, if the floor still has a magenta color, an easy fix for this, would be to not use magenta to make the floor transparent. If the floor is a solid layer, with no background color in it, you have to add the "mask" tag line within your coding.

To get a clear understanding, that thin magenta line in your floor, make that the same color as the color under that line, and add the following line to where you have the floor in the def, at the bottom of the code string for it.

mask = 0

It should look something like this:

Quote
[BG Road]
type  = parallax
spriteno = 2,0
start = 0,152
tile = 1,0
tilespacing = 0, 0
width = 1000,1188
mask = 0

This will at least give you a solid floor, without it being transparent. It will be treated no different than your background layer, except it will be the floor.

If you noticed where I have spriteno as 2,0, it's because it is on it's own layer. Needs to be, if you want a proper floor :)

Not all images will work that way, it depends on the image & stage being built. So keep that in mind. Just cut and adjust to your needs.
