Hum....dunno about jackson.
Besides I am a fan of that game (and of mickael too) maybe it will make the game too fancy.

Its up to MDI to decide.

Dude you are awesome, thanks a ton! And cool palettes too!

As for Michael Jackson, I don't care how odd or fancy he is haha..but unfortunately he is way too tall for this game. Otherwise I'd put him in.

That fireball is a move or the helper got stucked in air? Sorry to ask, I don't know that game.

You mean the tiny flame? Yeah it is meant to just stay suspended in air. There is a Gremlin enemy in Castlevania that has a torch and sets flames up that stay in mid-air just like that, so I wanted to give the witch the same move.

My feedback:

PROS
- Cool music intro (the old one was cool too)
- Nice versus screen! So every char will have its own stage, to show that on the thumbnail? Or will you use it on another way?

CONS
- The title screen is a bit confuse. I think you need to use some classic sprites as bg, not that image. It would give a more nostalgic feeling.
Maybe few frames from the original games, like NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, it would be so nice.

- The title screen style clash a lot with the select screen style.
- I think you could exchange that MAIN MENU with the Super Nostalgia Wars logo you made.

- I do prefer the old music on the select screen. Or you could use something more classic, like F-Zero's theme or another music.

Today I played in some strange japanese game again. This time it was Ushio to Tora. For some reason it's so hard from beginning and levels are so short. But that's not what I'm posting this for, both playable characters are at needed height and they are interesting, bosses are demonic creatures and bg's are gloomy and dark. Why not using those? Sprites were riped http://www.spriters-resource.com/snes/ushiotora/

I'm going to update the select screen to fit the title screen more.
I just didn't like the original title screen, it was just a static image that was a placeholder to begin with.

Yes, this is supposed to be a game based around nostalgic/oldschool/16-bit/32-bit 2d characters, but I don't want it to literally feel like you're playing on a SNES console you know? I want people to play this and go, oh yeah thats that cool Mugen game that pays tribute to Metroid, Castlevania, Actraiser, etc.

And I decided early on that the theme would be cybernetic and high tech looking, I think using Metroid Prime and Lost Planet 2 graphics + music is good so far. The selection screen is all I need to update at the moment.
Everything you've seen so far I did put effort into and all, but really it was just a placeholder until I found out what I really wanted.

And yeah, the versus screen has a custom portrait for P2 which shows their body and a small image of their stage + the text. Since the 1p mode revolves around fighting just bosses which will be unplayable anyways and will always have the same stage, I figured it'd make sense.

I'll figure out what to do with human players' custom vs portraits though.. I'll probably just do the same thing without a stage thumbnail.

hum, so I got it all wrong. For me, it was to be a SNES/Megadrive look and feel project. I do prefer on this way, but its your project, not mine, so I respect it.

I like this a lot. But it gives a little trouble: if each char will be linked to a certain stage, we won't have freedom to make any stage we wan't, just the stages from that chars (because you won't see it on game).

Plus, for me, the "magic" resides exaclty in to see God (ActRaiser) vs Firebrand (Demons Crest) in a Castlevania background. Whic is exactly one of the pros things of Mugen. It sounds like a dream match, got what I mean?

I think you can't do this (since the versus screen is always the same for any kind of match), but I need to confirm it.

Anyway, I support you.

Well, thats what Versus mode is for. Assuming the people that will play this have friends to play with. Either way I'll include a few of the standard characters for arcade mode, possibly for order = 1. So, problem solved! I get what you mean. I like mixing it up too.

The versus screen is always the same, yes. But the way I have it set up there doesn't have to be a stage thumbnail each time. The foreground in the system.sff is simply the green bar looking thing above the player, and some black around it. Its no problem.

So, you can change it based in which mode you are? Really? I never know this before.

No no no no.

Its the same versus screen each time, but the stage thumbnail doesn't have to be there each time is what I'm saying. I only include it for the bosses.
This is the template for Versus portraits.

The brown is the transparency, and the blue is where the foreground/layerno=1 is.
So for non-boss characters all I have to do is not include the stage and stage name.

ah, so you've made it? I was going to make it soon...
well, I will make another one :)

I'm working in RMM's Yellow Devil, I would be back working on this project soon.

Good to see you've ripped the death explosions, I would need it for some bosses.

Haha oops. I knew you were making some bosses from that game but didn't know you had planned on making this particular one.

Also, those aren't the explosions from Sky Blazer, I usually just find any good looking explosion effects I can find on Spriter's Resource.
