I'm not joking, that's what they going to call it
Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man Reboot is Officially Spider-Man: HomecomingIt's been about 14 months since Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures officially announced they'd be teaming-up for Spider-Man's film future. Bringing Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they announced, he'd first appear in a Marvel Studios film, which we now know is Captain America: Civil War, but then go on to a Sony Pictures-produced solo movie.
Tuesday night at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Sony Pictures hosted their annual panel, looking at their future releases, and officially announced that Spider-Man's new movie will be titles Spider-Man: Homecoming. The title was rumored thanks to a domain name registration earlier this month, but was confirmed for the first time at the panel.
The title helps reflect the younger take on Spidey that they're going for this time around, keeping him in High School and letting him take on the problems of a teenager, as well as those of a superhero. That take has been indicated almost as long as the deal was done, and was reflected in the youngest actor yet being cast for the big screen role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Tom Holland. Holland flew to Las Vegas for the title reveal, just a few hours after being on the red carpet for Captain America: Civil War.
Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman said the title is "both a high school reference, and a homecoming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe" after the reveal.
As for Marvel Studios, they're also on production for Homecoming, president Kevin Feige recently explained in detail that it's a Sony Picture, with Marvel creative assistance, something he intuited during the initial announcement of the landmark character-sharing deal.
"Marvel's involvement will hopefully deliver the creative continuity and authenticity that fans demand from the MCU," Feige said during the initial announcement in February 2015.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters July 28, 2017. Spider-Man first debuts in Captain America: Civil War on May 6, 2016.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Logo Revealed
When announcing the official name of their upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie, Sony also unveiled a brand new logo for their Spider-Man movie franchise. The logo features an almost playful font, with the second "O" in "Homecoming" replaced by a stylized version of Spider-Man's mask.
Unlike previous Spider-Man movies starring Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield, Spider-Man: Homecoming is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland, Sony's newest Spider-Man actor, will make his first appearance as the webslinger in Captain America: Civil War next month. Marvel Studios and Sony have an unprecedented arrangement, in which both studios will collaborate on future Spider-Man movies in exchange for Spider-Man's continued involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Joining Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming is Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya in an undisclosed role.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7, 2017.
