It's uh.. Still the 17th somewhere, right.? RIGHT.? Yea, I thought so. ;*))

(An update of this pic for the DCvM screenpack is in the character folder, updated and ready to go into the char.)

Well, here comes the BETA of Rhino. Not gonna give a percentage as I'm not sure how far in he really is, but there's still a hell of a lot more that's going to be added into him. A lot of it already sprited, just didn't have the time to add the stuff in AND make it into the IMT Release Party. So, I choose to share this with the public and just update him with all the extra goodies not too far down the line.

Well, enough talk, take a look at how far along he is at the moment. :)

First vid of him done, and as I said, soon after I made the first vid he'd probably get a beta release. Well, here it is.

Last, but definitely not least, check the "ReadMe" for what he has so far, what's yet to come, and thanks to all the people that made this char possible so far. Especially my main men, the coder to Rhino, MGMurrow and the guy doing the vocals, ShockDingo. These guys deserve a round of applause for everything they've done. =D>

I just got done posting how I hoped this would be the next release. Thanks for this release Batzarro and all the hard work and time put into making him. I've been wanting to try him out ever since I knew you were making him. That's an awesome DCvM portrait too by the way, and that stage is rad. And MGMURROW as the coder? Dang this is gonna be awesome!!! Looking forward to hearing those custom voices also. Thanks again.  :w00t: :w00t: :thumbsup:

the voice work seems almost... creepy good? I mean its dead on with most of the rhino voices I have heard over time (videogames and cartoons)

you guys should consider adding E.honda's ultra from sf4 to this guy, not exactly like honda's but the idea of taking the enemy to the end of the stage and beating the sh*t of him using the horn would be nice.

Wow! that's a real surprise, I almost forgot about old Rhino ;*))

The sprites look great, the shading too and the flow of the animations is top notch.

Can't wait to check him out, I'll be waiting for an update too ;)

Man, after a few little updates (more moves and everything listed in the readme), this character is going to be... :o. Just the way you did the sprites and how fluid the animations are, it makes you feel like your actually fighting with a heavy character that has to throw his weight around. Other bigger characters sometimes feel kind of weightless when you play with them, and it just feels unnatural. I especially like the nostril smoke. It's definitely Rhino. Nicely done man. =D> =D> =D>  Can't wait to see what you have planned for him next.  :w00t:

He plays great, but that foward dash looks weird like it doesnt belong there.

Also the snarling sound kind of gets annoying but its cool..

Maybe you can add some sound for his walking forward and back.

You know to make him sound heavier and tougher..

Overall its pretty good, cant wait till hes complete..

Really, it's showing up as Monday for me? Guess my forum time is just different.
I kinda thought Sunday was double release or something like that though. Doesn't matter anyways, they will release everything eventually, weather it be today or tomorrow.

Nice Rhino Bat, I'm glad to see this has come along so far since when you first started. I like his specials a lot because you can chain so easily with them. Keep up the good work! ^^

is not easy make original specials/hypers for strongs guys, but i did it. he have bash moves, but with little different for other arounds.
only missing throw, special throws and hypers throws....
but i tink u already know that.

He is gonna have some beat up hyper and that sounds like it would be right up Rhino's alley. Will take a close look at that and see if it gives me any ideas of how to go about it. :)

Means a lot that so many are enjoying him. Glad you noticed all the little stuff that went into him too. I can be a little too attentive to detail at times. It's a curse but also a great strength when I finally get something out. :P

I think the forward dash might look a little odd 'cause it might need to be arched a little bit higher when he does it. I've gotten use to it as is though, so I probably won't notice even if I check it out closely.

More sounds are definitely coming also to most things on him. :thumbsup:

His regular throw is already sprited, just not coded yet, same goes for his special one. I'd like to see him have a hyper grab, just don't have any idea what he'd do. If you have a suggestion, feel free. :)

You mean, what had some new sprite work done on it.? Well, the whole building with the bank and that whole side had a lot of custom stuff done to it. The cops and the cop cars too some. Aside from that, it's pieces from a few other stages. :)

u already have rhino sprites to do my sugestion hyper, u will need some backgrounds and effects to do that. my sugestion is:
"Juggernaut vs Kitty Pryde in X3 movie"

Man Rhino is awesome the sprites look friggen amazing, cant wait to see what you have in store for him in the next releases keep up the awesome work. The list of spiderman villains continues to grow so many now. Congrats on the release and thanks for sharing.

Awesome release, wasn't expecting Rhino to be made so quickly.  After playing a few rounds with him I found a quick bug:

-If you get hit while doing the Stone Star, Rhino will be stuck at whatever height he was at when he got hit.

Yea, I am working on him. Using Zangief as the base though, along with some Hulk stuff. Might just be limbs of Hulk though 'cause I can never seem to resize the actual Hulk sprites right then they look off. But who knows. Might even try asking for permission to use the sprite rips of Monk from Martial Masters as I think he could be useful.

In any case, I'll start working again on him some after Harley's beta gets released at the end of the month (and I'll post a WIP topic of him when I get a good amount of stuff done).   :thumbsup:

gotta say though...the head looks discolored and disproportionate.

Agreed. I too wish he'd make him feel heavier.

Congratulations on this character Batzarro, best beta so far!

As mentioned by other members already, Rhino plays very smoothly. I'm very impressed.

Palette work is top notch.

Transition between anims, combo capabilities and playability is very good as well.

No bugs found, then again I only played with him for about 3 mins.. lol

Great beta all around.  :thumbsup:

This isn't much, but have you thought about using maybe the lion's roar from mgm pictures as a sound effect for Rhino? It's not the best I guess, but it could be edited to sound like breathing and it has that low raspy growl that Rhino has already. The werewolf's growl from 300 might work too. Just thought I'd offer some input. I just think those added breathing efffects would really help him out.  :)

Sweet, man! I've been waiting for this guy for... well, since I first found out you were making him.  :D

The details you've put into him so far totally make this character! Everyone involved in making this character are doing an amazing job.

After a little bit of testing, I haven't come across any bugs but I do have some opinions/ideas for you. Please keep in mind that these are just my own personal ravings, so please feel free to ignore them if you see fit:

- I know a lot of people are going to give me grief for this one, but I actually think his charge and gore moves might have better gameplay with "charge-back" commands rather than QC. This would let these moves play more like Hulk's Gamma Crush or Blanka's roll, where you could quickly use them to turn your defense into offense. It just "feels" right to me, you know? Like the motions are more in tune with what the character's actually doing. Like he's rearing back for a moment before charging forward at the opponent. To me, QC moves just don't seem very intuitive for these sorts of moves. A slightly different command structure might help him to stand out even more from the crowd, too.

- He could definitely use some envshake. OK, lots of envshake. Like on his landings or on any of the moves where he charges across the screen. Combine that with some heavier footstep sounds and it will really feel like he's rumbling across the screen, ready to smash whatever's in his way.

- Hyper move idea: Basically a "Hyper Gore", where Rhino impales P2 on his horn, lifts him in the air and shakes him around for a few seconds (preferably while yelling or growling), before launching them across the screen.

Just my 2 cents worth. Whatever you have in store for Rhino, I'll be anxiously waiting for the next version!

Hey Batz great work on Rhino. Just a quick suggestion about the one hyper he has. I like the idea of the mulriple headbutts, however it strike me as kind of blah that there is no coup de gras at the end. Perhaps have him do the three headbutts and than have him flip them behind him like in the D,B K special move.

gotta say though...the head looks discolored and disproportionate.

*idea* give him a special like God Rugal's hyper that smashes p2 against the walls but, of course, he uses his horn instead.

At the times, at some angles, his head might seem a bit small. Not sure about the discoloration you've mentioned though. If it needs work though, palettes are always easy to make. :)

As mentioned by other members already, Rhino plays very smoothly. I'm very impressed.

Palette work is top notch.

Transition between anims, combo capabilities and playability is very good as well.

This isn't much, but have you thought about using maybe the lion's roar from mgm pictures as a sound effect for Rhino? It's not the best I guess, but it could be edited to sound like breathing and it has that low raspy growl that Rhino has already. The werewolf's growl from 300 might work too. Just thought I'd offer some input. I just think those added breathing efffects would really help him out.  :)

There's already some good sounds we haven't used yet. So, just stay tuned as I'm sure the next update with have plenty more. :)

Sweet, man! I've been waiting for this guy for... well, since I first found out you were making him.  :D

The details you've put into him so far totally make this character! Everyone involved in making this character are doing an amazing job.

After a little bit of testing, I haven't come across any bugs but I do have some opinions/ideas for you. Please keep in mind that these are just my own personal ravings, so please feel free to ignore them if you see fit:

- I know a lot of people are going to give me grief for this one, but I actually think his charge and gore moves might have better gameplay with "charge-back" commands rather than QC. This would let these moves play more like Hulk's Gamma Crush or Blanka's roll, where you could quickly use them to turn your defense into offense. It just "feels" right to me, you know? Like the motions are more in tune with what the character's actually doing. Like he's rearing back for a moment before charging forward at the opponent. To me, QC moves just don't seem very intuitive for these sorts of moves. A slightly different command structure might help him to stand out even more from the crowd, too.

- He could definitely use some envshake. OK, lots of envshake. Like on his landings or on any of the moves where he charges across the screen. Combine that with some heavier footstep sounds and it will really feel like he's rumbling across the screen, ready to smash whatever's in his way.

- Hyper move idea: Basically a "Hyper Gore", where Rhino impales P2 on his horn, lifts him in the air and shakes him around for a few seconds (preferably while yelling or growling), before launching them across the screen.

Just my 2 cents worth. Whatever you have in store for Rhino, I'll be anxiously waiting for the next version!

You might have a point there with the structure of his commands. Though, I never really liked using characters where you had to charge up the move like that. So, not sure if that'll be happening, will keep it in mind though.

Envshake is definitely going to be added to a few things to give him that whole heavy feel. :)

The hyper idea sounds like something that might be included in another hyper. :thumbsup:

Hey Batz great work on Rhino. Just a quick suggestion about the one hyper he has. I like the idea of the mulriple headbutts, however it strike me as kind of blah that there is no coup de gras at the end. Perhaps have him do the three headbutts and than have him flip them behind him like in the D,B K special move.

The hyper he has right now is going to have some great stuff added on to it and changed a bit. Will be a pretty unique hyper when it's complete. ;D

I'm loving that backhand of his. looks like it was fun to sprite.

This is definitely a beta. However, it shows INSANE promise. Aside from more moves, the only problems I see are lack of voices (which you said are coming) and that he still has that freaking random yellow ring when he's knocked down in the corner, same as Punisher.

Well, here comes the BETA of Rhino. Not gonna give a percentage as I'm not sure how far in he really is, but there's still a hell of a lot more that's going to be added into him. A lot of it already sprited, just didn't have the time to add the stuff in AND make it into the IMT Release Party. So, I choose to share this with the public and just update him with all the extra goodies not too far down the line.

Was looking for another new special or two and another grab was desired. It re-uses sprites that are already there with a few added ones to make a whole new move. Think this move has a lot of potential and probably will get done. :)

Geez, so many great releases and all bout the same time!  How do you guys find all the time?
Aside from what Acey said, there's three things that help me to make a WIP come to life.

1) Make a whole list of what you want the char to have and just general ideas. This really helps from just making sprites that have no real direction towards anything the char will use.

2) After getting a good amount of sprites done, copy significant pieces (like the head, symbols, or things of that nature) on to a blank sheet. If you've done a lot of sprites, you should most likely have everything you need to copy/paste the harder parts. Though, you'll always run into a few sprites that you do need whole new pieces for. :)

3) Working through the night. Though, that can come back to bite you in the @ss and then you're too tired to work on anything the next day. :D

I think he should end this either with a powerbomb like slam that bounces the enemy away, or he should just toss them afterwards.

the wall leaves a shadow mark of the EOH character (just a single EOH character sprite

shadowed) if thats too much work...or just a regular body print like the old street fighter

2 games. its called the tombstone punch its a move from the ben 10 game on psp

And yea, pretty basic atm, but there is so much more to come. Most of it sprited already just need some time to code. When MG does his magic with coding, this Rhino will truly rule some major @ss.! :w00t:

For your first suggestion, I actually have that type of move planned for someone else.

For the second suggestion, I think seeing a move like that would almost seem like he controls rock/earth. So, I'm not really feeling that idea, but thanks for trying. :)

Batzarro, please take your time, you needn't rush your next release, it's still better to wait for something, which reflects your serious involvement, than something, which looks like you've just put hundreds of awful sprites inside to balance the lack of quality.

Smooth as my girls nice soft backside!! In other words... Very very AWESOME!! Nuff said on that...

[BASICS]
His basic attacks are based from Zangief, but who cares??? They look pretty good to me. He chain combos very well, and in true MVC fashion. He's not as fast as most MVC fighters, but he shouldn't be. He's HUGE! But believe me... This does not stop him from kick the hell out of other characters a$$'es! Complete with launcher, followed by my favorite thing ever... Aerial combos. Great job... Seriously!

[SPECIALS]
The running charge is very effective and reminds me so much of those old school Spiderman episodes. The gore and toss special is an awesome way to end off a combo, and comes in really when you're backed in a corner. The jumping knee drop can be done on the ground as well as in the air, and can also be added to combos. Just freakin sick...! I can't wait to see what else you have in store for this guy...!

[SUPERS]
Well, he only has one! It's cool, but I find myself beating the crap of my opponents with basics and special so much, I don't think to use it. I can't really comment on this yet. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what he gets. Personally, I like the idea of the Sodom throw. Pushing them on ground through crackling concrete. Just seems awesome to even think about. I say DO IT!!

[PROBLEMS]
After doing the Knee drop, if you get hit while doing it, he can then walk on air! lol... Doesn't take away from the fun you'll have with him, but needs to be corrected... Nothing else found as of yet...

[OVERALL]
I like this guy! He looks to be very promising. If he kicks a$$ now as a beta, imagine the damage he'll cause when he's done! Worth the DL now if you ask me, but some may want to wait till he's complete, or at least updated. Besides the one little problem I found, he's nicely done, and it was about time... Thumbs up soldier! Great job so far...!  :thumbsup:  =D>

Rhino will have his own set of get hit/attack sounds, I think they just haven't been put in yet. Didn't notice anything wrong with the walk/block sounds. Though, I'm sure a heavier sounding walk would sound better if the default one is still in.

I rather like the standing HK, though I think what might look off is the placement of his leg planted on the ground. Will see if I can make that look any better.

As for the cop car sprite, it was borrowed from Wucash's Ghost Rider (w/permission). I did change it up a bit from his, but I might just use his original one as a lay out and completely remake it myself. Giving it more MvC graphics and more definite lines.

His basic attacks are based from Zangief, but who cares??? They look pretty good to me. He chain combos very well, and in true MVC fashion. He's not as fast as most MVC fighters, but he shouldn't be. He's HUGE! But believe me... This does not stop him from kick the hell out of other characters a$$'es! Complete with launcher, followed by my favorite thing ever... Aerial combos. Great job... Seriously!

[SPECIALS]
The running charge is very effective and reminds me so much of those old school Spiderman episodes. The gore and toss special is an awesome way to end off a combo, and comes in really when you're backed in a corner. The jumping knee drop can be done on the ground as well as in the air, and can also be added to combos. Just freakin sick...! I can't wait to see what else you have in store for this guy...!

[SUPERS]
Well, he only has one! It's cool, but I find myself beating the crap of my opponents with basics and special so much, I don't think to use it. I can't really comment on this yet. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what he gets. Personally, I like the idea of the Sodom throw. Pushing them on ground through crackling concrete. Just seems awesome to even think about. I say DO IT!!

[PROBLEMS]
After doing the Knee drop, if you get hit while doing it, he can then walk on air! lol... Doesn't take away from the fun you'll have with him, but needs to be corrected... Nothing else found as of yet...

[OVERALL]
I like this guy! He looks to be very promising. If he kicks a$$ now as a beta, imagine the damage he'll cause when he's done! Worth the DL now if you ask me, but some may want to wait till he's complete, or at least updated. Besides the one little problem I found, he's nicely done, and it was about time... Thumbs up soldier! Great job so far...!  :thumbsup:  =D>

Atm, I'm pretty sure he can get hit out of the hyper. I'm sure it'll end up a little more unstoppable by the end. As for the hyper idea, don't wanna do anything like that as it would remind me too much of Lobo's bike hyper or the overused Batmobile one.

I am real sorry about that. I actually ended up forgetting to credit a few people as that read me was a bit rushed. Thanked Excursion in there, but didn't credit him for being the one that animated the stance. That'll be updated with next release though. Again, am honestly sorry as you definitely did help improve Rhino. :)

I don't really wanna give away specifics as what type of new moves he'll have yet. From the looks of it though, he'll be having 6-7 specials, 3-4 hypers, and 3-4 intros/winposes by the end. Looking to give him some special intros too. Atleast against Spidey, Hulk, Thing, and one other special one. Still have a few things to sprite on him though, but his sprites seem to be approaching an end soon (at least for now). Then I'll be able to focus on my next WIPs much, much more. ;D

Rhino will have his own set of get hit/attack sounds, I think they just haven't been put in yet. Didn't notice anything wrong with the walk/block sounds. Though, I'm sure a heavier sounding walk would sound better if the default one is still in.

I rather like the standing HK, though I think what might look off is the placement of his leg planted on the ground. Will see if I can make that look any better.

As for the cop car sprite, it was borrowed from Wucash's Ghost Rider (w/permission). I did change it up a bit from his, but I might just use his original one as a lay out and completely remake it myself. Giving it more MvC graphics and more definite lines.

Yea, his crouch will be animated. Just didn't get to it this time around. :)

Did think of something similar. Would of been a stomp that sends a tremor across the ground, sorta like Thanos. Though, a whole quake that can affect anyone touching the ground would be great too. Just need to find some sprites that can work for that. :|

Rhino is fun character to play as.  But i do have a few suggestions about his intro and some other things.  In my opinion, instead Rhino chasing the cop car across the stage - the cop car should be on the stage and the rhino lands on top of it either with his feet or with his knees and the Rhino is engulfed in an explosion (unhurt of course) and the smoke clears and the match begins.  Or maybe a special intro where the Rhino chases deadpool on his scooter (which sorta kind of happened in the comics) across the screen and we later hear a explosion and see deadpool fly across to the other side of the screen and the Rhino walks onto the stage and the match begins.

I also think that rhino shouldn't be throwable or should be able to be push backed or knock down. The Rhino is a extremely heavy character in the spiderman comics and he should have some of the attributes of a heavy character.  I would love to see the stage kind of tremble like Gold Warmachine in Marvel Vs Capcom, and it would be awsome if the Rhino could stun his opponent when lands on the ground after jumping making the opposing character dizzy.

For the car intro, that doesn't sound too bad, but it just wouldn't make too much sense to me to have a cop in his car sitting there for no good reason in front of the opponent. I know it's Mugen and all, but I guess it's just a sense of reasoning that makes me think the intro might not work. I'll think on it some more though, maybe I'm just tired. :P

Wait, are Hulk, Juggs, or Thing throwable.? If they aren't, then I think Rhino should follow the same suit. If they can, then he should be able to too. As for the envshake (making the screen shake after certain stuff), he will have a good amount of that. He won't make the opponent dizzy after landing from a jump though, that would be extremely broken.

A bear hug grab, maybe. :-??

Ok I agree with the heavy kick, but the heavy punch??? That's a spinning back fist!!! That poop is tight man!!!! Leave it in there! lol. It goes great at the end of a combo, or in a combo period!

A running clothesline, just for fun
A fake run where he takes a few steps, causing the opponent to block, then stomps the ground instead,
causing some damage to the opponent (and maybe setting him up for a real running hit)

I guess the idea is that it would be cool to have a big tank character actually be nuanced and strategic.  I.e., he could have fast charge attacks that can hit low, high, and even while blocking.  Ideally, Rhino could give some small indication of which attack is coming - maybe hand position during the "windup" for the charge.
Just a few thoughts. I'm looking forward to the next version!

About the slap, it's something I do feel Rhino would do. Though I might change it, who knows.

When it comes to specials, he has 8-9 that are sprited. So, you guys have only seen about a third of what he has in that department. Nothing much going on in the air though, is the only prob with that right now. Aside from the Stone Star, that is. A low type of charge does sound like a good idea though. Sorta like Balrog and his charge punches.

There's no speedster villain in Batman's rogue gallery. Besides that, what would Captain Falcon and a Batman villain have to do with a teaser for Rhino.? /:O

and glad to see Rhino is still in the works and I have some ideas for his intros and winposes too

Intros
1. I m not sure if this is possible but maybe he could smash through a wall on the side of the screen (he loves doing that ;D) and say something like Ill never get tired of breaking through walls he he and maybe something to the opponent as well
2. A few cars could fly overhead one after the other from the right hand side of the screen (maybe a police car or van as well ;D) and then Rhino could come charging out from the same side of the screen as if on a rampage stops and says someyhing to the opponent like get out of my way ya bum nothing can stop the Rhinos charge ;*))
3. you could another one simlar to 2 only with a load of policemen being knocked flying from the side of the screen by Rhino maybe smash a few of there verchles as well ;D

Winposes
1. He could do some strength pose simlar to the one in your sig and say something like yeah I win
2. After beating the opponent maybe the police could turn up from the side of the screen and say something like halt police then start shooting at Rhino then Rhino could charge at them and chase or knock them off screen (the police run away when they realise they cant stop Rhino  ;*)))
3. If he is fighting another character spider-man could webswing onto the seen and jumps down to the ground and says something to Rhino taunting him which makes Rhino angry Rhino then says something to spider-man like get lost webhead I aint goin to prison this time then charges at him spider-man swings away off screen Rhino follows or maybe Rhino could catch him with his horn and knock him off screen instead and Rhino could say take that ya bum ;*))
