 :DxDie looks like capcom still thinks kof is inferior to sf. i hope this doesn't hurt the chances of cvs3 or atleast cvs2 becoming dlc. im still sad gen isnt in this game   :(

Well i got my 360 copy today and im loving it!! :w00t: My PS3 special edition will be available on normal street release next tues but from Gamestop...

Sabaki will have his today too. we shop at the same store for the early stuff here in NY...

So to the folks who know where your nearest Import/Us game store is you better hit them up because they should have it...

funny thing is as usual they didnt have the game playing on the big monitors. reason being of course that game doesnt officially drop till next week  :D

anyway ill see you cats in a few hours...imma absorb this

Yeah, like what DEMONKAI said, I got mine at the same store this afternoon. Been playing training mode with various characters before moving on to arcade mode and beating it. Since I never got to test the earlier builts until today, game's gonna take a lot if getting used to. A few things to take note on:

1) you can try & play the (sf) chars like SSFIV, it works for few chars. However, you will never take advantage of what SFxT really offers if you stick with SSFIV mentality. More on that later (maybe?)

2) if you got tekken experience, using the tekken chars will come easy faster. I've played tekken 3, 4, and 6 and sure enough their combos work very well. However, SFxT isn't tekken, so utilize the game's engine to compliment and build on tekken- style gameplay.

3) the juggle/combo system is amazing! Really, you are not limited in what you can combo into each other....to a certain extent. Chains can be canceled early only into ex moves, which is really a nice feeling. Juggling is not limited. If you compare it to mugen, there is indeed the use of juggle points to determine how to style your combos. I believe Seth Killian spoke about the juggle points in an interview, and just like he mentioned, each move has their own juggle points, so you can use each move as much as possible until you use that move's juggle points up, which is then you gotta tag in a different move before the juggle ends (different from mugen on that point where chars have juggle points for how many times they can be juggle, despite what move's done)

4) Ryu & Ken are easy to use, no lie. Not saying they are the best chars, but they are basically pick up & go chars with minimal learning curves if you want to play quickly.

5) window for charging that one special move is pretty wide, which can mess up your combos. Basically, you have to tap the attack button if you don't want to accidently charge and "delay" the attack.

6) Guile players will be happy to know that you can play him SSFIV style. Yep, lotta combos translated well to SFxT, plus the chain combo system improves on it. Ibuki, on the other hand, cannot be used SSFIV style  :( .

7) meter gain is fast, so don't hesitate to use.
 
Guess that's it for the moment. Haven't really played with the gems, but I can say that the ones bundled with the game do not have much of an effect on gameplay. Unless you're really focused on incorporating them into your strategy, you barely notice them in actual gameplay. If anyone got any specific questions I can try to answer them, or anyone else who got the game feel free to put in your 2 cents.

yeh you have taunts. on my 360 is the Back button.

As for what Sabaki broke down yeh thats pretty much the deal on that folks. Tag in hits are easy to combo into from your normal combos. Nice touch seriously^^ My thing is the Gem system. Its going to take A LOT of getting used to in a way if you are used to not having stuff happen that way or at random. You have to carefully pay attention to whats going on. theres so many conditions and negative effects to the gems is crazy. Mind you i just have the normal version of SF X T!. Special edition ill have next tues. Thats a TON extra gems

Pretty much theres gems where a quick combo will come out automatically during a battle. It saves you big time because the CPU takes over and executes it like a well timed EX move so thats the good part. The bad part is when it happens you forget at times when you triggered the condition for it to happen. like if your apponent blocked 3 of your normal attacks in a row during a combo. sh*t like that. I really dont think its going to be a favorite in tourneys. The should release an update patch later for FREE to cut it off optionally. i mean its cool for me because i dont play competitively raw like i used to but it wont be to tastey for cats like that.

Another negative effect with certain gems is when its used you may deal 10% less damage. Or another gem may have you generate 10% energy back er somethin if you got hit a few times a certain way...its weird and trippy. But its easy to tag in counter. It just comes with the cost of some power so theres no spammin that...

As for the select screen and from what i see theres slots looking obvious for more characters. more than two. Ogre, Akuma are already selectable so im guessing more DLC characters at some point!...ill try to post a pic from my PC on what the screen looks like

Yeh funny you said that because i was just about to post that here and correct what i said before...i was trying to end the game and it cost me after not losing any rounds up to Ogre. I got a lil annoyed when my character kept attacking while i was moving. i had to stop  & pause and re look at my controls and see what the hell was going on  o.O#

On the ps3, taunts are done by pressing select.

Just started messing with gems in the gem edit screen. Like what DEMONKAI said, it's pretty vast  #:-S . Won't lie, unless you wanna build some strategy with them, don't get too rallied up about they. They are easily unforgettable. Doesn't mean you shouldn't use them; they're not bad, but in the long run your skills with how you know your character comes first. Gems just give you a nice boost when you need em.

Yes, disable quick combos!... If you don't plan to use them, that is. On the ps3 both L3 and R3 are quick combos. They actually messed me up a few times while performing juggle, so I paused the game and disabled them.
