Rock Volnutt by Maitake

ok, so Rock Volnutt by maitake is awesome, and the way rock goes up in levels is pretty cool, but the fact that level ups doesnt carry over from one battle to the next makes it more annoying than useful... so does anyone know how to either:

A) stop the gems from spawning so rock doesnt level up
B) make rock always start at level 3 so he cant level up anymore
or C) Get levels to carry over from battle to battle

i know, odd question, but any help would be HUGELY appreciated
