Namco Vs. Capcom Not One, But Two Games?
« on: July 20, 2010, 03:44:37 AM »
http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/07/19/rumor-namco-vs-capcom-not-one-but-two-games.aspx

Quote
Ever since two prominent Namco and Capcom producers appeared at Evo 2010 in Las Vegas just over a week ago, rumors have run wild about a Namco vs. Capcom game. Game Informer has done some digging and found intel that will please Street Fighter and Tekken fans alike.

To catch people up, Namco Bandai's Katsuhiro Harada and Capcom's Yoshinori Ono playfully teased the crowd at the Evo fighting game tournament with some onstage banter (see video below). The most important information concerned a fighting game debut trailer set to go live on Saturday, July 24th during Comic-Con.

According to our sources, Capcom will make a Capcom vs. Namco game using the Street Fighter IV engine and Namco Bandai will create Namco vs. Capcom with the Tekken 6 engine. This means that each game will play and look like whichever company is creating it. Think hadoukens, Ultra Combos, and 2.5D presentation on the Capcom side and three dimensional movement, in-depth move lists, and most likely, a playable panda on the Namco side. Ono is rumored to produce the Capcom game, and we're guessing that Harada will handle the Namco end of things.

Capcom's done its fair share of fighting game crossovers before with companies like Marvel and SNK, but this could be the first time that two totally separate games are produced simultaneously. Be sure to come on back this Saturday to see if our information rings true.

Holy sh*t great post!  ^^(PM)^

i knew this would happen. i mean i got the rpg import just cuz years ago but i knew this would happen eventually in some form.
although its fighting games it still leaves a possible release for DS or psp US release version of the RPG original.

but indeed im more interested in the fighting games lol

Well, I have to say this is CERTAINLY an unorthodox approach to doing a crossover project, between two companies. :o I already knew that Capcom actually still takes chances, but this takes it to a whole new level!

Also, seeing an actual Namco/Capcom crossover game come over here...That has been one of my greatest desires, ever since I had known of Namco X Capcom's existence.  8) As it's two different fighting games, they have a better chance of getting imported, no matter WHAT obscure characters are involved. :w00t:

I pray for their success. ^:)^

Two versions of essentially the same game by the two companies would be a disaster.  :(|)

I predict the Capcom version would sell more because lolTekkenJuggling.

 >:-(-| Dis a dam good year for fighting games aint it brothers? Back on topic wat do u mean it would be a disaster dont u know dis is one of da best ideas to ever come out of a crossover? Think of it dis way a lot of tekken fans think dat tekken is better then street fighter and a lot of street fighter fans think that SF is better then tekken obviously. But for those who want the game but are tekken fans will get da tekken version as to where da sf fans get the capcom version but since im a fan of both i'll prob get both especially if namco and capcom pic there own rosters...

Pac-Man will probably get a cameo, but he won't be a full fledge fighter.

The Tales RPG series better get some rep or I might have to rage D<

Also: Pac-Man is a Namco character, as is Klonoa ;)

I wonder how they'll handle Weapon Based fighters in the Tekken engine? Soul Calibur reps are a given if this actually happens, so I can't help but wonder how they'll work. And which Yoshimitus they'll use?

Pac-Man will probably get a cameo, but he won't be a full fledge fighter.

What?  That would be like if there were a Nintendo vs. Capcom and Mario got a cameo, but not as a full-fledged fighter.  Pacman's one of the most iconic video game characters out there  :-??

Plus the Pac-Man World games showed us he can do more than eat, so yeah.
