Believe it or not, I want to make my own character. Can someone please tell me how to save sprites to pcx? This is png.

you would have to use photoshop or a photo editing program to do this. you will have to edit the format of the .png to .pcx   ;D

What about a bipmap? Can't I just change it to that and upload it to Fighter Factory? It can do that.

Use ReaConverter 5.5 Pro. You can download a 15 day trial here:

and after 15 days you can still use it but some of the pictures will be water marked; most however aren't marked.

You can save it as bitmap, but anything above 256 color bitmap will visualize incorrectly in Mugen.

Dang, can someone tell me what to download on Gimp? There's a lot of options.

Silly Andy, the best way to get about this without having to look for programs to download is just open your spritesheet in MSPaint (comes with the computer) and the cut each indiviual sprite and save in as whatever you want. EX: Sprite1.bmp, Sprite2.bmp ect.. Just be sure to save in as a "24bit BMP".

Once you have each sprite cut and ready to convert to .PCX (where you're probably at right now), then Open Fighter Facory and Open your Pallette Options. From there you can convert your BMP to PCX by merely:

-Opening your BMP image with the open image icon located on the upper right side of the pallette option menu.

-Then as the picture loads, click "Optimize" and all the color used for the sprite will drop and you'll need to carry thoughs colors over to the box on the left hand side. (Please be sure the background color of your character (the pink color) is the only color posted in the very bottom right corner palen as that's what tells Mugen what should be transparent in gameplay. The other colors can go whereever.

-After that click on the "Add" button (This is the actual conversion) and add all of your sprites into the box on the left hand side and click the option underneth to save the .PCX as it's original name Sprite1, Sprite2 ect... and convert and save. It should now have a duplicate file to your BMP but with the PCX extension on it. Hope thats not too confusing..

Though some stuff there are really cool plugins such as itext(turns text into the apple word effects) are really neat.

Just use ifranview to convert it from bmp/all other formats to PCX. Its not hard will take you 2 minutes tops.

Also see the help for what things mean when you are converting, chances are you are gonna get a better conversion.

See this site for plugins, as some are cool like itext.

Ok, I saved all the sprites to pcx. The Template I use is Elecbyte Player. The box is white. How do I change it to pink like the sprites?
