Highlights
E3 is starting early this year with Konami’s first ever annual pre-E3 press conference. We managed to rustle up all of the higlights from their presser today.
You wanted it, here it is. The Konami pre-E3 press conference highlights.
* ‘Transfarring’ system from Konami and Kojima Productions.
o Allows for saves to be moved on the go from PSP titles to PS3 titles and vice versa.
o Plans for PS2 titles to transfer between the two as well
o NGP will be made compatible as well and hopes are for allowing PS3 games to be made playable and saves transferable to and from NGP handhelds.
o First title to be made compatible by Konami is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (will also be made for Xbox 360).
o Note: This is probably what Kojima was upset about last week in his Tweets.
* Konami announced the Silent Hill Collection, featuring Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 in HD.
o No screenshots, video or much information was given
* A portable Silent Hill game, Silent Hill: Book of Memories, is coming to the PlayStation NGP.
o Only a quick speech of how this Silent Hill “will take the series where it has never gone before”
o Logo was shown
SHM
* Hideo Kojima announced that he’s working on a brand new graphics engine called the Fox Engine.
o Will allow for making multiplatform games easier
o Doesn’t want to stick to just one console anymore
o New game will be using this engine but not much is known about it
o He used an Xbox 360 controller over a PS3 controller to show off the engine (slight change in stance from usual PS3-only thinking)
* Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection and Zone of the Enders: HD Collection will be making their way to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
o Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection includes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and has a November 2011 release attached to it.
o The Zone of the Anders: HD Collection will include Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner and will release sometime in 2012 and both games in the PS3 collection will be compatible with the ‘Transfarring’ system.
* Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D Trailer E3 2011. Konami Press Conference Unveils New MGS Trailer for Nintendo 3DS.
o New video was shown.

* NeverDead Trailer Revealed at Konami’s Pre-E3 2011 Press Conference with Megadeth Providing the Soundtrack.
o Megadeath is Kojima’s favorite band and they did a song for the game and reveal.
o Main character cannot die, but also can have his limbs shot off, then watch as he picks up his limbs and reattaches them
o Here’s the video:

Wait, no MGS1 HD?
-
well ps2 games are probably just filtered and stuff to look nicer as they did for gow games but a ps1 game would require a lot more work to look like that but thats just a theory
-
Metal Gear, Metal Gear, Metal Gear... It looks like this is the only thing they can do... As if they don't have any other franchises besides that and Silent Hill...
-
haha true, well i hear konami is having quite some money problems so they are taking safe bets i guess
-
Lame no gradius 6 info?
or Otemdius.
anyway, nice METAL GEAAAAARRR.
-
Silent Hill: I don't care
ZoE: Never played it
NeverDead: NeverHeardOfIt
MGS: One of the greatest franchises of all time (definitely Top 5, maybe #1)
Makes sense to emphasize it.
-
(definitely Top 5, maybe #1)
Same for me.
-
Metal Gear became overrated.
