Title: How to add Super Jump to Stages by Hayabusa
Post by: Scar on August 10, 2007, 04:24:17 AM
Anyways, this "How to" basically shows you how to change a stage to where when you super jump, the camera will follow you into the upper part of the screen.

I did this to the stage "Ken Stage SSF2" by "JC".

First download Mugen Character Maker, aka MCM, you will need to edit the .SFF file.

Open your .sff file and go to the second frame.

now click on SFF at the top bar and select "Save PCX"

Open that file with photoshop and select "Image/Canvas Size"

Click the bottom arrow and change the Height to "400 PIXELS"

You should get a nice big white space above clouds, now select the "Eyedropper Tool", and then select the blue in the background and fill that white space with it, you should get an enlarged background looking something like this:

Now save that PCX file and open up MCM again and load your SFF file. Go back to frame 2 and click "SFF/Change Image":

Now with your new bigger image of the background, you have to adjust it, go under image info and where it says "Axis: Y" type "225"

Now save your SSF file and open your DEF file for that stage. You need to change/add some info. Under "Camera" options change "Boundhigh" to -160. The reason you do this is to let the camera move higher with the extra space that was added up top. The way we get "160" is we subtract 240 pixels (your regular background height) from your 400 pixels (your new background height), making the boundhigh negative allows the camera to move higher. Then you add another perameter (if it isn't already their) called "verticalfollow". Verticalfollow is how high the camera follows you when you jump, set this to ".6"

Now save everything and lets check it out!

BEFORE:

AFTER:

And that's all! some stages may be more difficult to do (due to background animations) but give this one a try!

You can do that to any stage but remember that you will have to fill in the gaps for stages that werent made for superjump.

example
take a look at nick09's pic, you are going to have to fill in the rest of the stage.

So it will take some editing for the stage to work well.

It doesn't really matter what program you use to edit the stage, I use Fighter Factory since it doesn't show shared palette errors.
