Ask him/her if you can have a forum on the website so that the forum can always be up(you should try SMF).

First to do is download the 1.1.5 install package for installing it:
http://download.simplemachines.org/

And there are language packs you can install including Spanish:
http://www.simplemachines.org/download/?languages

Now the first step is to create a mysql user and a database(you need this for installing, keep the usernames and password on a text file, just encase you can't remember them).

Now unzip all the smf files into a new directory(folder you could call it) like forum then run the install.php, enter your ftp info because the forum software needs to edit the permission of files.

Enter the needed info and you should be OK.

Then for the language files just extract into the forum directory(folder).

Then later on you can add features such as themes(installed via the theme installer) and modifcations(installed via the package manager). I recommend this mod as it is very useful, IMT uses this.
