So finally i decided to make willy a WIP

Being playable or boss isnt decided yet, but i want to sprite Dr.willy in is Ufo as long as i can!


Heres is some of his progress

Standing animation:



Back walk:  (still need to be animated)



Dr.willy pointing: (could be telling his minions to attack)



Round 2 defeat:  (kaboom)




So my main idea its to make a playable version of him, but of course, im only spriting him
I think it would be cool to have him playable, like a similar gameplay as Tronbonne
He wont jump, but he could be able to float with the directional keys (he could have a time limit to float high)
The attacks could be very variated, lazers, beams, plasma bombs, cast minions... Etc.

I plan to give him as much as references from the old games as i can, like the famous eyebrow intro or even the Alien illusion.

What do you think guys? have ideas for him? lets talk about the classic megaman villian of all time!

Awesome animations. Like some said, I think Gamma would be a good first form to go against with Wily's boss version. I'd think it'd be like Onslaught, fight Gamma the first round, then fight the saucer the second rounds. Gamma could fight like Onslaught's second form, while Wily fights like a normal boss should. The alien idea is also a good one. He could send out a hologram of the alien as a hyper/super/etc. to attack the player.

Love the animations. I think it'd be cool if he's like a boss at first but beating him unlocks him as a playable character

Also moveset ideas:
*Special Attack: Two mini cannons pop out of the sides of the craft and shoot out 3 quick bullets each
*Level 1 Hyper: A drill comes out of the skull part and Wily rushes forward
*Taunt: Wily throws his head back and laughs evilly with his hands on his stomach
*Win animation: Wily jumps off the craft and dances around while the craft shoots out a a flag with his face or logo

I think of my Wily as more of an experimental character. It's not going to be the Wily for this game, I just created it because of the fact that there isn't a Wily that's working and available like that. Plus, it's a boss character. Either way, yours looks really awesome. I also agree with the idea of Gamma or something being the final boss, then the UFO. :thumbsup:

Cool looking Wily sprites.  That can definitely be used as one of the multiform final boss.  It would be neat to see him have the head pop off with the slinky neck like in Megaman 3 before he moves onto the next form.

He is looking really perfect so far. Agree with the Gamma idea as well. :)

Ya know, you could probably use Heihachi's NxC heads for Wily with a little editing.

We stopped checking for monsters under our bed when we realized they were inside of us.

BTW it's probably just me but in his back "walking", the craft looks smaller than the rest of the sprites

Yea, can kinda see it in his pointing animation. Looks like it does get a bit smaller but looks kinda natural as well. So, I think in game it will look right.

My idea on this kind of character is that he shouldn't have basic moves (like punches and kicks) for obvious reasons. Each button would be used for a special move, and being Wily, he must be more projectile oriented. Some ideas:

* Shoot an energy ball upwards that descend over the opponent's head and split into two;
* Four balls of energy circle him, then are shot in different directions;
* Shoots lightning upwards, then it strikes in three different positions on the screen;
* Shoots a slow projectile that stuns the opponent;

I dunno, I think he can have regular attacks but ya have to be pretty creative to create them. For example you could have the skull pop out like a punch.

But that's just me. I'm looking forward to seeing more progress

I think if we're going to use Gamma for the first round (which IMO we should), then we could always use Megaman 8-bit Deathmatch for inspiration!

Just noticed that too, it's because Wily doesn't use black as an outline color for things. Thinking that should be added in. Since he first started as a background sprite am assuming they wanted him in lighter colors over dark so he wouldn't pop out as much.

On the other hand, he's not a robot, he's human. So, even though it clashes a little bit, maybe it'd be best to leave him as is. He does already look phenomenal.

Oh don't get me wrong it's excellent sprite work but it kinda clashes with the other characters at first sight. Plus I compared him against Tron Bonne (another human) and she has a black outline of sorts as well. But hey it's whatever daeron wants

I prefer if all the megaman characters avoided having the black outlines. I think they just look better without it.

But great Dr. Wily wip. I've been waiting for a Dr.Wily character for years.

If I may make a suggestion: You should probably make two releases for this character, one based on the MM:RMM appearance and one for general mugen (same sprites but different moveset)

My first idea its to make him playable, but his sprites could work as a mini boss or something too.
Now im working on a special wich uses the attacks of his first created robots from MM2, it will be like a Willy buster.
