Title: Release Party: Amazing Spider-man
Post by: Acey on May 13, 2009, 10:45:59 AM
Amazing Spiderman
by Sludge and Acey

So about 3 weeks ago Jason Todd came to me and asked if I would be interested in re-releasing  Spider-man with a few new intros and hypers. I thought it would be a great idea so we got started. He sent over a series of new sprites (including some great new Todd McFarlane inspired gethit sprites) and as I jumped into the character I ended up spending the bulk of my time transforming the character itself into a healthy new mix of classic MvC, MvC2 and EoH game play, so much so in-fact that there are still some specialty animations yet to be added. For details on this version of Spiderman please refer to the readme file and you'll see this truly is the Amazing Spiderman.

p.s. For the special [vs. Beast] intro Beast needs a def file update found here. (http://www.infinitymugenteam.com/images/Beast_MvC.def)

Brooklyn Bridge Night stage by Acey

After finishing the Green Goblin stage I found that some elements fit better into a night time stage so I divided the stage into to parts and adjusted the remaining details as necessary to complete the day and night versions. These stages are used for various Spiderman rogues in the EoH game.

iron sprites are great, but move is so slow.
...
the peter parker sprites are so small.
...
i dont tink symbionte hyper a good ideia, because project will have black spiderman, maybe he should use the black costume in some intro, but without symbionte stuffs.
...
the main spiderman power is the wallclimb, and any version mugenizede use it, i tink u could made it to him, like strider... and add some special moves to that state.

I agree some. Iron Spidey Hyper can be sped up a bit to match his other attack speeds   The Symbiote Hyper is not that big a deal. It's just a hyper. So I think it's fine.

It's become popular and useful lately to post up combos you find with the character so I'd like to start it with my current favorite:

CLK,CMK,HK --> Launch, JLP,JLK,JMP,JMK, Web Ball, Web Swing

Great work guys, Spidey is one of the few characters I have multiples of in my MUGEN. This now makes three, along with Seth's and the Symbiote Spidey by Emphawk.

And once Seth releases his update you'll no longer need that Symbiote Spiderman that was neither coded nor sprited by Emphawk.

Hey Acey, about the stage. I'm willing to update it with animated water if you would like?

The water not moving just looks odd, and I just want to give my favorite comic super hero ever the proper stage feel if that's alright with you?

I won't get it done till tonight though cause I'm about to leave for work.

This is easily the best Spider Man released.  However, he doesn't come without his share of flaws.

-His WP is an infinite since it has a long hittime and Spidey can still walk when his oppponent is stunned.
-His MP is also an infinite, but it has to hit when the opponent falls low enough to hit him in the air, and since the opponent will recover, it's a pretty hard one, but like I said, when it does hit, you can go on.
-His hitsparks are supposed to randomize between 8 angles, but since he only has one set, I can see why.  Maybe use a helper to rotate the hitsparks.
-He lacks quite a number of effects, most of which are already included in the EoH template.
-He lacks a guard push.
-His superjump should also work if someone presses DF, U or DB, U.  Super jumping in place seems kinda inconvenient. :/
-He also needs 'shortcut' commands, such as 2K being super jump and 2P being dash (3 if you want to be MvC1 accurate).
-The timing for his superjump from launcher seems odd.  I suggest adding some delay (such as trigger1 = stateno = 210 & animelem = 4 or however) so that the air rave will be easier to do.
-Why is his voice deeper?
-In his Peter intro, the pixels on his neck bug out when his 'Spider sense' is going off.

p.s. For the special [vs. Beast] intro Beast needs a def file update found here. (http://www.infinitymugenteam.com/images/Beast_MvC.def)

Guys my feedback, this is a great spiderman ^^:
-It would be great have got the two stances like u say in the Readme
-Iron spider needs more animation
-Air back dash is missing.
-Crouch punch doesnt launch the opponent (add superjump to the crouch launcher)
-Walk back sprites have got a weird anim

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

1) Iron Spider sprites were Jason Todd's department, I'm just glad he did all the sprites he has so far.
1) What would someone use an air dash back for with Spiderman?
2) Spiderman has 2 launchers, CMP and HK and both are easily followed with the Super Jump. I think I left HK out of the readme file.

@ Luigi, good stuff, you're not the first to say they have a hard time with the superjump timing and right now all I can say is that is it different than MvC2, but it works quite well once you acclimate to the change. In general the EoH characters launcher higher than in the versus series and as thus everything is adjusted accordingly.

normally in mvc2 i think the hk didnt launch unles you did cr. mk which lifts the opponent off the ground slightly then if u press hk it launches them. do u plan to incorporate that in there as well or do u plan to keep the change where cr. mk just hits and hk launches by itself without having to land the cr. mk

Sabaki mentioned this just the other day and I switched it to work as such for about 5 minutes but the side effect was a juggling launcher (which is ok) so I made a decision (that I really expected to be unpopular) to keep it as you see it now which will also work going through the standing kicks into the launcher.

First of all... CMP launcher doesnt work... 2nd I only suggest some animations in Iron spiderman hyper and 3rd spiderman is an air-climber character and back dash can be used to get away the opponent

i tink he is more fast then SD one...
and have more intros.
same specials (i tink)
SD have a better Symbionte hyper, but this have a cool iron armor hyper.

...
hey Acey, i saw the same mistake i made with wonderman ion hyper in iron armor spider hyper, multi hits moves, but only 1 hitdef, so somes hitsparks are out of place.

You're right, I meant standing MP.

Good thought ZV, Another option might be to make the hitspark and explode on P2 when movehit.

The hitpauses in the Crawler Assault should be shorter.
Ultimate Web Throw should make P2 bounce much higher off the floor when they hit it.  It could also have a better sound for hitting the ground. (I know it's included in the EoH template)

The things I mentioned were how they were in MvC, check them out to see what I mean.  Asides from these, nice. :)

i liked the excursion stance as well. and i'm a little confused, there is a symbiote spidey in the works for you all? if so, in my opinion if can swap out a diff hyper for the sym hyper here, might be a good thing...this is assuming that sym spidey is in thw works.

spiderman turned out great, his basic attacks need a slight increase in power, but other than that he is everything a spidey fan could ever want.  :)

Not much has been said about black suit, acey announced him back in 07 and it became a backburner w.i.p.

A suitable replacement for the black suit hyper could be a armored spiderman transformation similar to mech zangeif in mvc2.

Me and this Spider-Man were destined to be together. Just joking, but man he rocks. Thanks again IMT, you guys are almost giving me a heart attack from all this cool stuff.  :w00t:
